Toy Story Land at Disney World: 8 Things You Need to Know

Families, Disney enthusiasts, and theme park fanatics: buckle up. Toy Story Land at Disney World is about to open!

As part of Disney’s Incredible Summer, Toy Story Land will open to the public this summer. But before you grab your bags and make a beeline for the park, there are eight things you need to know about Toy Story Land.

1. Opening Day

The 11-acre Toy Story Land at Disney World opens to the public on June 30, 2018. This brand new land is located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios along with top thrill rides such as Rock ‘N Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror.

If you plan to visit on the 30th, be prepared for insane crowds! Between the new land and the peak summer season, it’ll be a bit packed at the park.

However, if your Disney World vacation is scheduled before the official opening of Toy Story Land, you can get a sneak peek of the fun by riding Toy Story Mania in Pixar Place.

2. Small Toys, Giant-Sized Fun

As you enter Toy Story Land, you’ll find yourself shrunk down to the size of a toy! Themed from the perspective of a toy in Andy’s backyard, this brand-new land features towering toys and a larger-than-life setting.

Grab the perfect family picture as you stand next to a gigantic Sheriff Woody or pose with a life-sized Army Man toy. You never know what toy-filled surprise is around the corner as you stroll through Toy Story Land.

3. Two Brand New Rides

Toy Story Mania opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2008 and was an instant hit! To celebrate the opening of Toy Story Land, the Disney Imagineers have redesigned the ride entryway into an over-the-top carnival game box queue. Plus, they’ve added an all-new ride track for even more 3D/4D carnival fun for all ages!

Plus, Toy Story Land at Disney World also features two brand new rides:

Slinky Dog Dash

At first glance, you might think this roller coaster is made for kids. Think again! With a double launch, stomach-flipping drops, and coaster car sound effects, this is one wild ride.

Upon receiving a Mega Coaster Play Kit, Andy assembled the roller coaster toy across his backyard for one epic ride. Slinky Dog is doing the honors and taking visitors for an exhilarating ride!

FastPass+ is offered on this ride for guests 38 inches (97 cm) or taller.

Alien Swirling Saucers

During a trip to Pizza Planet, Andy won a play set and is playing with it at home. Inside, the aliens have powered up their flying saucers and invite you for a ride into space. Of course, if you’re lucky, you might even be chosen by “The Claw!”

This spinning ride is set to an intergalactic soundtrack for out-of-this-world fun for guests 32 inches (81cm) or taller. FastPass+ reservations are also offered for this ride.

4. Dine at Woody’s Lunch Box

Of course, what would a new Disney World land be without the culinary masterpieces? While working up an appetite in Toy Story Land, visitors will be able to grab a bite to eat at Woody’s Lunch Box. This quick service food station will feature breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items.

All set around the toy theme, guests can order everything from a S’Mores French Toast Sandwich (yum!) to a BBQ Brisket Melt. And don’t worry parents, a select alcohol menu is available too!

The following Disney Dining Plans are accepted at Woody’s Lunch Box:

  • Dining Plan
  • Deluxe Dining Plan
  • Quick-Service Dining Plan

5. Meet Your Favorite Toy Story Characters

While you’ll be able to spot everyone from Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head to Bo Peep throughout Toy Story Land at Disney World, Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl are available for meet and greets.

Upon arrival to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, check your My Disney Experience App to see the character meet and greet times and locations for that day.

6. Know Where to Go

While it’s nearly impossible to miss, you can find Toy Story Land right before Pixar Place in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Before you enter Pixar Place, you’ll see a pathway leading to Toy Story Land. Take that path and watch as the scenery becomes larger than life!

7. Start Reserving FastPass+ Now

Since the opening of Toy Story Land at Disney World is less than 60 days away, Disney World hotel guests can begin reserving their FastPass+ reservations for the new land now. Regardless of when your trip to Toy Story Land is, FastPass+ reservations will come in handy with the large crowds!

Do note that only one of your initial three FastPass+ reservations can be for Toy Story Land. The other two must be for other Disney’s Hollywood Studios attractions.

8. Take Advantage of Extra Magic Hours

One of the many benefits of staying on Disney property is access to Extra Magic Hours. Extra Magic Hours allow visitors to experience Disney’s top attractions and theme parks before or after regular operating hours.

If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, these Extra Magic Hours will ensure that you can experience Toy Story Land to the fullest. During normal operating hours, these new rides will be packed! Use your extra time in the park to ride Slinky Dog Dash, Toy Story Mania, or Alien Swirling Saucers a few more times.
