Visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort is an immersive experience that transported me to a world I had only read about or seen in the movies. Divided into two sections – Hogsmeade Village and Hogwarts Castle – the snow capped roofs, cobblestone streets and towering pinnacles of the intricate buildings awed me with their detail. From the moment I entered the Harry Potter Attraction, the Hogswart Express welcomed me and I knew this was going to be different from any other theme park experience. As an avid Harry Potter fan, I quickly made my way to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, located at Hogwarts Castle, to get in line for the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction. Although there was a line, as this section of the park is extremely popular, Universal Orlando did a fantastic job with the queue. Before boarding The Forbidden Journey, I got to visit iconic locations like Dumbledore’s Office, the Gryffindor Common Room, and the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom, as well as experience unique features like levitating candles, the Mirror of Erised, and living portraits. The ride itself is a simulated virtual roller coaster that gave me the chance to have a magical adventure of my own with Harry Potter and his pals. I got to fly along with Harry to the Forbidden Forest, to a Quidditch pitch match and even had to outrun the Dementors of Azkaban! Although The Forbidden Journey is the signature attraction at the Harry Potter Theme Park, you’ll also want to hop over to the Dragon Challenge, an intertwining roller coaster where you choose your own dragon, a Chinese Fireball or Hungarian Horntail, for a unique ride that is never the same. The Flight of the Hippogriff is a family-friendly coaster that teaches riders how to approach a hippogriff before sending them on a training flight with a hippogriff. Even though the thrills are a mild, the thematic fun was an added bonus to my day. A day at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is not complete without exploring all that is available at Hogsmeade Village. I spent hours here wandering from Ollivander’s Wand Shop, where I purchased my own Wizarding wand, to Zonko’s Joke Shop, Dervish and Banges, the Owl Post Office and Honeyduke’s Sweet Emporium. Of course, when visiting you must try the famous butterbeer, which is served at The Three Broomsticks restaurant, among other areas. The recipe was meticulously researched and approved by Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling. I drank mine cold and it tasted a bit like cream soda. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was a great way to spend a day in sunny Orlando. From the magical adventures available to the immersive shops and eateries, this area of Universal Orlando Resort exceeded my expectations. |

Are guests allowed to bring food or drink items into Universal Orlando Resort?Yes. Acceptable items include bottled water, small snacks that do not require heating, any food required for medical purposes or special dietary needs and baby food and baby formula.
Can guests bring coolers into the Universal Orlando Resort?
Yes. However, they must be soft-sided insulated bag style coolers that are no larger than 8.5” wide x 6” high x 6” deep.
Do Universal Orlando tickets expire?
Unused tickets that are not date specific generally do not expire. However, tickets may be subject to specific expiration conditions based on first use or ticket type. For example, if you have purchased a Multi-Day ticket, the ticket expires 14 days after the date of first use. You activate it by entering your first park. If a ticket has never been used or activated, then it will not expire.
What are the parking fees at Universal Orlando Resort?Daily Parking fees are:
Cars, Vans, Motorcycles: $14
Buses, RVs & Cars with Trailers: $15
Patrons parking after 6pm are charged $3 for parking.
Valet parking is available for cars and vans for $20.
Are strollers and wheelchairs available to rent?
Yes. Guests can rent strollers, wheelchairs and Electric Convenience Vehicles (ECV) upon entrance to either theme park, to the left side of each park's entrance. Manual wheelchairs are also available at the Rotunda area of the parking structure.
The rental fees are as follows:
Single Strollers: $14.99 tax inclusive
Double Strollers: $19.99 tax inclusive
Wheelchairs: $12.00 per day + a $50.00 deposit & a signed rental contract
Electronic Convenience Vehicles: $45.00 per day + a $50.00 deposit & a signed rental contract
Are lockers available to rent?
Yes. Lockers are available within each of the theme parks for guest rental for $8.00 per day, with family size lockers available at Universal Studios Florida for $10.00 per day. Guests have unlimited access to these lockers during the course of the day. Additional lockers are available at Islands of Adventure for $2.00 per hour, with a $14.00 per day maximum.

Is smoking allowed at Universal Orlando Resort?
Smoking is permitted only in designated areas. There are currently 13 smoking areas at Islands of Adventure and 12 at Universal Studios® for our guest's convenience. All other areas outside of these designated smoking areas are smoke free.

Recently, I visited Universal Orlando Resort and was blown away by the attention to detail that immersed me upon entering its gates. Divided into two sections, Universal Studios® and Islands of Adventure®, these theme parks encapsulated the thrills of roller coasters while also exploring the fascinating aspects of movies with virtual-reality based attractions surrounded by buildings, sets and shops that look like they are straight from Hollywood’s movie sets. One of the best things about Universal is the characters the resort is built around. From rides featuring classic characters like E.T. to newer phenoms like The Simpsons™ to superhero stars like Spiderman™ and The Hulk, every aspect of entertainment is covered. While at Universal, I felt as if I was in a city all its own, which is an amazing feat in and of itself, but the experience was made even better by the design of the resort, which allowed me to view every last inch of the park without backtracking or walking myself in circles. The layout of the resort, with individually themed areas throughout like Seuss’ Landing™, is reminiscent of a movie set and theme park combined, which is the exact combination I believe Universal Orlando® Resort desired. The first ride I ventured on was the classic E.T. Adventure® which recreated the famous bicycle scene and guided riders on a quest to save E.T.’s friends. Next was the new The Simpsons Ride™, where although the line was long, was worth every minute of the wait. This new ride is unlike any other ride I’ve ever been on as it puts you face to face with all of your favorite Simpsons characters in a setting best described as a virtual reality. Before I made my way to Islands of Adventure®, I made time for a trip on The Revenge of the Mummy®, where the fun of a roller coaster is mixed with the danger of the Mummy Curse. At Islands of Adventure I knew I had to ride The Incredible Hulk Coaster® the minute I saw its twisting loops of green. After a moderate wait, the Hulk Coaster blasted me into curves, twists and drops that could easily have some passengers seeing green. My fellow companions & I, however, who are diehard roller coaster enthusiasts, loved every minute of the fast-paced ride. Universal Orlando® Resort immerses guests in the world of movies, superheroes, cartoons and the limitless scene of imagination.
