Universal Orlando Announces Expansion of Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Diagon Alley

The adventure continues at Universal Orlando Resort!  The theme park has officially announced the expansion of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  The new area will be called “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley” and will bring new rides, a restaurant, and shops based on the Harry Potter Books.

Scheduled to open in 2014, Diagon Alley will expand beyond Islands of Adventure, where the current Wizarding World of Harry Potter is located, into Universal Studios.  The new multi-park experience will bring to life some of the experiences and places found in and around London in the Harry Potter books and films.  Construction is already underway, at the former location of the Jaws ride.

When Diagon Alley opens guests will be able to travel between Hogsmeade Village aboard the Hogwarts Express to the new London-themed area.  The real, working train passing between the two parks creates a dynamic, multi-park experience.

Gringotts Bank is set to be the featured attraction of Diagon Alley.  A special effects indoor roller coaster is planned for the Bank, while streets surrounding it will be filled with shops, including a Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.  Memorable elements from the Harry Potter books will be integrated into Diagon Alley, with the meticulous detail used to create the Original Wizarding World of Harry Potter showcased.

More details regarding the Universal Orlando expansion will be coming soon!
