When searching for the best time of year to visit Orlando, most people would tell you to avoid the summer season. Instead, I’ll tell you to visit whenever you want, because it’s your vacation! If you can handle the heat and don’t mind the crowds, there are hundreds of things to do in Orlando during summer.
However, telling you about the hundreds upon hundreds of things to do would take quite some time. Let’s focus on the top six Orlando summer activities instead.
1) Find the Magic at Orlando Theme Parks
You can’t go to Orlando without visiting their world-renowned theme parks. Even if you tried, the magic of Walt Disney World® or the thrills at Universal Orlando® Resort would reel you in. After all, Orlando, Florida is known for having some of the greatest theme parks in the entire world. Make sure you visit at least one (although I absolutely suggest visiting more) of these Orlando theme parks:
Before you go, be sure to check the Reserve Orlando Travel Guide for theme park tips and tricks. You’ll find everything from how to use your FastPass+ in Disney to finding the best animal shows at SeaWorld.
2) Cool Off at the Water Parks
No matter what time of year, Orlando is hot. Considering the consistently high temperatures and ample sunshine, it should come as no surprise that going to a water park made our list of things to do in Orlando during summer.
Whether you prefer to float along the lazy river or scream at the top of your lungs while plummeting down a waterslide, there’s a water park for you in Orlando. Get your tickets to these top waterparks:
- Aquatica by SeaWorld
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon
- Disney’s Blizzard Beach
- Universal’s Volcano Bay (Opening 5/25/2017)
Of course, this is only a handful of the water parks Orlando has to offer. Find the park that suits you and your family and have a splashing good time this summer!
3) Go Wild in Orlando
Have you ever wanted to come face-to-face with an alligator? Or, how about something a little tamer like snorkeling with tropical fish? All of that is completely possible with the many animal attractions in Orlando.
Consistently ranked as a fan favorite among the many things to do in Orlando during summer, the animal encounters and attractions are perfect for all ages. As a fan of animals myself, I highly recommend going wild at these attractions, zoos, and aquariums around the greater Orlando area.
- Discovery Cove Orlando
- Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo
- The Florida Aquarium
- SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium
- Clearwater Marine Aquarium
Remember: for the safety of the animals and guests, it’s important that you follow all park and encounter rules!
