Orlando Eyes Giant Ferris Wheel for New Entertainment Complex

Merlin Entertainments has announced a new entertainment, dining and shopping complex named “I-Walk Orlando” is set to debut in early 2013. The project will bring a Madame Tussauds wax museum ad a 425-foot observation wheel – dubbed the Orlando Eye – to the Orlando International Drive corridor.

Merlin Entertainments is the same company that owns the landmark London Eye wheel in the UK and they will also be the company behind operations at the new Legoland Florida theme park.

I-Walk Orlando will be located about 1.5 miles north of the Orange County Convention Center, in the former Mercado retail center area, which was demolished in 2007.
A third attraction is also in discussion for the I-Walk Orlando entertainment complex.

  1. Any updates on the Orlando Eye and entertainment complex? I haven't heard anything about it since it was announced last year, projected opening date is in 2013. Is this project still on schedule? Any progress, anything being built? Or has this project fell through? I live in Ocala but haven't been to Orlando for some time and haven't been on I drive to see if anything is being done.
