Downtown Disney is set to open Morimoto Asia on September 30, 2015. The new restaurant, helmed by Japanese master Chef Morimoto, features a pan-Asian dining experience showcasing flavors from across Asia. It’s part of the overall redesign of Downtown Disney to Disney Springs, which is nearly complete.
Visitors will be wowed by the restaurant from the inside out. The main entrance has a three-story glass corner, through which a multi-level bar and spiraling, glass-bottle chandelier can be seen. Swanky yet casual, the 36-foot tall, two-story layout has an open atmosphere with a 270-foot sculptural bar connecting the grand dining room on the main floor to the upper lever Forbidden Lounge. Wrapping around the staircase, the bar is one of the largest in the world. A sushi bar designed with ash wood and hammered copper adds to the sleek vibe. An exhibition kitchen allows for a behind-the-scenes look at the culinary action, ideal for a Morimoto-inspired menu.
Complementing the décor are glass mosaic works pf Japanese prints, antique mirrors and beaded glass chandeliers. An outdoor, two-story terrace provides plenty of patio seating, with panoramic views of Disney Springs. An exhibition kitchen allows for a behind-the-scenes look at the culinary action, ideal for a Morimoto-inspired menu. Options include flavorful meals like moo shu pork, Peking duck, lobster chow, kung pao chicken. Beverage selections are largely Asian beers, including Morimoto’s signature beer by Rogue Ales. Sake, of course, will be available too.
A special sushi bar is a separate experience. Seating only 14, the small-scale provides an intimate look at sushi and sashimi from around the world. Watch as chef’s work with uni, sea eel, salmon, red snapper and other fish to create a variety of specialty rolls. The full menu of sushi is available only at the sushi bar, while a limited selection is offered on the main restaurant’s menu.
The new Disney Springs restaurant will also serve weekend brunch, complete with traditional offerings like dim sum, dumplings and spare ribs.
Morimoto Asia will be open from 11:30am to 2:00am daily. Reservations are open now by calling 407-WDW-DINE.
