The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, presented by Disneynature, is a special spring event presented each year to highlight flowers, gardens, topiaries, live music and educational events. This year’s festival is scheduled for March 18, 2009 – May, 31 2009. Even if you’re not a gardener at heart, you’ll love this event because it showcases the beauty that is Mother Nature, all on the grounds of Disney World.
A few of the festival highlights include:
Poster Artist Heather French: Every Friday, Saturday & Sunday Heather French will be creating art at the Garden retreat, adjacent to the Canada Pavilion.
Garden Explorations: Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 9am – 12pm, guided tours of the award-winning gardens of Epcot are available. The three hour tours are guided by a Disney Horticulturist.
Garden Town Discoveries: Every Friday, Saturday & Sunday special events are held during the festival at Future World East. Tricks of the Trade is scheduled for 10am – 7pm and allows guests to get a behind the scenes look at how Disney’s horticulturalists create some of their most popular designs. Planting Pointers is held at 1pm & 4pm, and lets guests join gardening experts from IFAS at the University of Florida for great gardening ideas. Disney Gardening at Home is scheduled for 11am & 2pm. At this event guests can meet Disney gardening experts and also participate in a hands-on demonstrations. The Great American Gardeners show occurs at 12pm & 3pm, and will entertain with presentations from nationally recognized garden personalities.
Other events include Art in the Garden, a unique look at nature through the eyes of “Plein Air” artists, Environmentality, which shows visitors how to keep our planet green, the Florida Farmers Market, a bountiful market located in Garden Town, as well as continuous shows of “The Making of the Flower & Garden Festival.”
The 2009 Flower Power Concert Series
spotlights groovy tunes from the ‘60s and ‘70s and begins March 20. Flower Power concerts take place at the Americana Gardens Theatre at 5:15, 6:30 and 7:45 each Friday, Saturday & Sunday of the festival. Concerts are included with regular admission price.
