We were happy with the resort overall. Yes could some small things be better, of course. We generally stay at Marriott’s when we use our time share but were absolutely happy with this resort for our 5 week stay. Always something to do to keep busy if you don’t go to any of the near by parks for the day. We had a few minor things wrong with our room, they were taken care of the same day. All staff helpful & respectful. With the complimentary shuttle back and forth to the parks & the outlets you don’t have to rent a car. With the on site eateries and some nearby restaurants that deliver, food is of easy access if you don’t what to buy groceries. If you don’t want to listen to their 90 min. presentation just opt out and say no.

"Awwww Good Stay!"

We don't often travel so when we do I scour the internet looking for the best deals, best locations, best in-room amenities, etc. I had little time to book two rooms for my husband and I and my parents to stay in for our 4-day, 3-night stay in Orlando. The best deal I could find us, close to the parks, without paying an arm and a leg was Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa. Check-in: Check-in was at 4 p.m. If you're coming to Orlando for theme park visits this is a great way to get used to standing in line. I made our reservations and paid in full online so I hoped check-in would be easier. We were in line for at least half an hour to just check-in. However, our customer service representative was very nice and very polite so that made up for the lengthy wait. Just down the line from us, a customer was growing increasingly angry at his customer service rep and our person was getting a little nervous. I can't imagine that it's an easy task waiting on alllllll of the people waiting to check in. After check-in, we were handed off to another staff person who handed us off to a timeshare salesperson. This is where Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa loses a star. I wish we had been asked at check-in if we were interested in hearing more about giving us the choice to be confronted by the salesperson. It felt fairly confrontational too. We weren't sure what was going on at first. The person was just unloading all this information to us about free breakfast and oh, here's a gift certificate for $100, and here's some more amenities that you can use, and you can have all of this if...youjustattenda90minutepresentationatbreakfast. Say what? So breakfast wasn't free? A 90-minute presentation starting at 8 a.m. and the parks open at 9 a.m? No, just no. We had to stop the salesperson to make sure what was going on and then declined the offer. I know the guy must get paid by commission because he was visually unhappy that we declined. He tried to sell us on it again, got a little more unhappy, and then wished us a happy stay. That was the only time we were asked about the presentation and sold the timeshare stuff. At no other time were we given a sales pitch. Getting to the rooms: We were next met with a sort of bellhop - a nice guy who we could follow (two separate cars, during a crazy busy check-in was a little dicey but ended up okay) to our building. He would let us into our rooms and get us settled. We weren't given a choice in this either. Fortunately, he was nice enough, got us where we needed to be, took care of our luggage for us, and got us into our rooms. He got tipped by both my parents and my husband and I. So just keep that for future reference. Our rooms were great. We got the Studio Villas. We faced the pond between the buildings with a view of the lake beyond. We were told we had a view of the fireworks but that was a little exaggerated. But the porch was huge and screened in (no bugs!) with comfortable chairs, a table, and two chaise lounges. We had a lovely breeze the whole time we were there. My parents had some troubles with their room. The carpet in the bedroom area was soaking wet in one area (just beyond the seam of the carpet and tile). We also got back to our rooms earlier on our 3rd day because of an injury I sustained at one of the theme parks, so their room hadn't been seen to yet by housekeeping. They said it didn't bother them. We had no troubles with our room. Our fridge wasn't plugged in and a text to the customer service rep got that taken care of right away. The bed was comfortable, if not really high off the ground (which I kind of loved). There were a ton of pillows and an extra blanket if needed. Check out was a BREEZE. Just drop your cards off in a little box at the security hut and off you go. Besides the few negative things I mentioned above we had a great stay. The first night it was a little loud. My parent's neighbors were outside until 2 a.m. Even though my room was on the 5th floor we could hear them yelling and laughing all night. The rest of the time it was quiet. I honestly think I could have asked someone to go out and tell them to be quiet but I just didn't think about it. Last note: I left my iPad in the bedside table. I didn't realize it was gone until two days after we got home. I called in the resort to ask if it had gotten turned in. It had. Along with the charger and cord. They are shipping it to me as we speak. I'm so grateful!

We traveled here last week and had an incredible time! Check-in was a little hectic and you are taken to various stopping points! We were only asked once about coming to a welcome breakfast. I simply asked if it was the 90 minute presentation and told the woman that we were not interested. She asked once more and politely said no thanks! Never again did we feel pressure from anyone at the resort! Instead, we had an amazing time! At checkin I asked the individual if we might be able to have a room with a view. He said he would do the best he could for us! We ended up in the 1400 building and were upgrade to a two bedroom! Super unexpected! The best part was at night while our daughter was sleeping we were able to see magic kingdom and Epcot fireworks! No need to go and sit in the long lines at Disney! We were escorted to our hotel room and asked for suggestions on the best pools! He suggested the pool that was kiddy corner to the 1400 building that my daughter renamed the “quiet pool” The property was very clean and we never passed someone who did not say hello. Everyone was very helpful! I was getting very nervous about this hotel before coming. However, it exceeded our expectations. If you are not interested in the timeshare presentation simply say no thank you! They will try to offer you some amazing deals however you as the traveler need to decide what is more important to you on you vacation! The free stuff or the extra 90 mins of pool time! Would highly recommend this resort to any of my closest friends and relatives!

"No peace here, constant harassment to buy timeshare"

This hotel is advertised as a resort and I purchased a room for 2 days. Think again before you stay here! All this place does is try to sell you timeshares. I was held hostage after I was fully paid and They would not give me my room key until I met with one of their consigliere’s and received a welcome packet which was just their way of forcing you to listen to their sales pitch. I told them I was not interested and “Jeff” became rude, gave me my room key and no map. It’s quite a large place but I finally found my way. The next morning they called my room first thing and woke me up saying I forgot my welcome gift and to come to the consiglieres desk and retrieve it. Again I told them I was not interested. Later in the the afternoon they called again trying to offer breakfast and a free gift card to listen to their sales pitch. I just unplugged the phone. It was a nightmare. Additionally, after returning to the hotel at 11:30 there was no parking. I had to park in the garage very far away and get a golf cart to drive me to my room, and in the morning come check out, they were no where to be found. The room was spacious, the grounds are pretty, but it’s all a trap, not a relaxing vacation spot....IF THIS IS A TIMESHARE RESORT WHERE YOU STAYING IS CONTINGENT ON LISTENING TO SALES PITCHES THEN YOU MUST ADVERTISE THAT. This place sucks!

Our out of state family stayed here for a week and we were their guests in the villa for a few nights. Orlando has many many hotels and villas so if possible find someplace better than this “Resort”. Cleanliness of the property is not a high priority as evidenced by the total lack of ongoing routine maintenance and cleaning of the individual villas. Coupled with weird people roaming the place at nighttime and no security to be found... we weren’t alone in feeling unsafe at Westgate. BUYER BEWARE!!!
