We had stayed at the Dolphin years ago and had loved it. The rooms were clean, had nice décor, and we enjoyed the pools. Having heard that it had undergone a major renovation, we were excited to surprise our daughters with a two night stay in late October. What a mistake! To begin, parking is $20 daily to self park & $30 to valet. Also, there is a $28 daily resort fee that covers WiFi (which was slow), 2 bottles of water daily (we only received on one of the 2 days) & the gym. These charges add up! It seems the renovation $$ were spent on the lobby. It is impressive with a huge seating area in the center, bar, restaurants, shops & a gorgeous lighting centerpiece. Seeing the lobby, we were excited to see our newly renovated room. Wrong! The elevators should have been our first warning. They are scratched & dull … not a good beginning. The halls leading to the rooms look dated. The “new” carpeting looks worn. The design on it that looks like it is worn out! Many areas were stained. I can’t convey the true state of the “renovated” rooms. Paint was slapped on existing louver closet doors, with many dried drip marks. There were digs out of the wood. Walls were marred. The beds weren’t fully made with sheets hanging down. Rugs weren’t vacuumed; glasses were dirty; light switches had “things” stuck on them; Hairs on bathroom floor and in tub; and the crowning glory was the “present” left in the toilet! This just touches on the issues. We called the front desk & after 15 minutes on hold, were told we could change rooms. We had to take everything back to the lobby & get new key cards. They sent us to the same floor, but in a different wing. (Good customer service would have been to send a staff member to us with the new keys.) The new room was much the same as the 1st but with added problems. (As an aside, there was a dirty glass in the hall by our door. It stayed there for the two days we were there. Housekeeping didn’t bother with it.) The closet, rugs & beds were in the same state as the first. The molding looked like someone had thrown up against it. The curtains were stained with a thick, brown substance. Don’t want to know what that was! The closet had a plastic bag that held an extra pillow & blanket. (The first room just had the empty plastic bag tossed on the shelf.) When my husband opened it, the blanket was completely stained. Called the front desk again and got nowhere. I was told there were no other rooms available. This was an outright lie as the clerk at check in had offered upgrades for a fee to a suite, balcony, or view room. Also, we went online to their website while waiting on hold & would’ve been able to make a reservation in the same type of room we had. Outright lying! The housekeeping manager was sent up after an hour to see the room. We doubt he was the manager as he was extremely young & pretended to take notes on his iPad … He was on the home screen the entire time he “fake” typed. It was actually comical. He commiserated with us & promised to follow up. We never heard from him again. We phoned SPG and our credit card company, but got nowhere also. SPG had me on hold for over 25 minutes and finally opened a file. Told me I’d hear back within five days. But my stay was two days! Our credit card couldn’t do anything since we had used points for the stay. Housekeeping is beyond terrible. We purposely left two glasses with toothpaste fingerprints on the vanity to see what housekeeping would do. They put them back on the coasters like they were new! Be warned, SPG/Dolphin obviously have no respect for their customers. We were lied to and dismissed. We did receive a $50 credit to our bill & 5000 Starwood “goodwill” pts. We’d have preferred to be treated as valued guests! The time we spent on the phone as well as room changing greatly cut into our 1st day of vacation. We were only there 2 days. We don’t appreciate lip service! Do yourself a favor…stay away from the Dolphin!

There are loads of hotels that one could stay when visiting Walt Disney World but I am glad that I have picked Dolphin. The room is adequately sized with all the amenities and it’s a short stroll via the boardwalk to a side entrance to Epcot. Alternatively you can catch a water taxi to Epcot as well and there is another taxi that brings you to Disney Hollywood studios. Between the Dolphin and Swan which is situated side by side I prefer the Dolphin for its massive atrium with the check in area, massive bar and an eatery. There are also plenty of dining options. Being a Disney Hotel you can catch the fireworks before the park closes and board the last water taxi back to the hotel - super convenient. There are also shuttle services to the other 2 parks - magic kingdom and animal kingdom. Highly recommended and reasonably priced.

We arrived early and knew we could not get to our room. We were told that since we were gold members (the Dolphin is owned by Sheraton) we were to get an upgrade to a room with a balcony. And since we were celebrating our anniversary we got drink coupons. Great! We returned to get into our room and was told to take the elevator which we did. I guess it was our fault that we assumed the floor but there is a difference between the 11th floor with the balconies and floor one in the basement with no balcony. Once we figured out where we belonged, we opened the door to our room to find the toilet running. Also, the air conditioner could not be turned down below 72. We had to get maintenance. Also, our alarm clock was an hour off and could not be changed (believe me we tried but there was no way to change it) We had to get a replacement. From then on it was great. Being on floor 1 is actually convenient. You walk right out to get the boats to Epcot and Hollywood studios. The escalator was right there to take you to the buses. Also, the Picabu Buffeteria was around the corner for breakfast. Everyone in Picabu were wonderful and helpful. Then it was our last day. We asked for a late checkout (4 pm) when we booked since we had a late flight. No problem. We even verified with the front desk the day before so we could get a full day in the parks. Again, no problem. We were standing in line for a ride at 9am and got an email saying we had to check out by 11. I called and was told no one gets a 4 pm checkout. After the ride was over we went back to the hotel and spoke to the front desk. Why were okayed the day before but now had to check out. Again, no one gets a 4 pm check out. They are booked up and we had to get out of our room. I am not sure if we will stay here again. We enjoyed the convenience and most of the staff, but I just do not like being lied to...

"Worst beds in the history of the world"

We go to Disney about every 2 months. We’ve stayed many times over the years at both the dolphin and swan. This trip, for my birthday was by far the worst. The beds were hard as an actual rock as were the pillows. There was hair on the shampoo housekeeping left us upon arrival. Furthermore, our room was not ready at the 3pm check in time and when I asked why not- I was told that really check in only began at 3pm. And that could last from 3-5pm or even longer. I will likely avoid the dolphin and the swan for further trips We
