"Just ok"

I was kind of disappointed at the room for how much we paid. We upgraded to a balcony room with a view to the fireworks at Epcott. Room was outdated and smelled musty. It wasn't worth the extra money.

I've stayed at a couple of places in Disney, and this is my least favorite. I have 2 different view points for this statement. One as a person staying in hotel, and one as a person "behind the scenes" for a conference. First, the hotel rooms - we had a king room on the 11th floor. It had a great view of the room, but at night, you could see fireworks at Epcot and also at Hollywood Studios, so that was nice. While the room was nice, as soon as we walked in, it felt damp to me. I did find out that the HVAC unit is set up to save energy. No matter if you turn it on or not, if you aren't in the room during the day, it cuts off after a certain amount of time. I totally understand why they do that, however, what you do no want after a long day in the park when it's in the middle of summer (and you are hot and sweaty) is to come back to a room set at 73 degrees with high humidity. You can request that your room have an override and for 3 days, the room will stay at the temperature you set it on. Most of the people at the desk are nice and accommodating, but there's a couple that I would say aren't "Disney material". They also aren't "Marriott material" either, so when the merge happens and they become a Marriott place (August 2018 I think), Those people might not be there anymore. Now to my next view point - being a staff person for a conference. So I was not an attendee, I was part of the company that was putting the conference on at the Dolphin for my company's clients. We had issues from the time we walked into the hotel lobby. We have put these shows on for years - once a year, wash & repeat. We have it down & know what we need to have done, etc. That being said, our check in experience was terrible. We got there on a Sunday afternoon, and the master room list for all staff that was coming in was not correct. We went through 5 booking people to get this conference done. And when we got there - it was still messed up. We had people who didn't have credit cards that were checking in and the whole hotel stay was being held on their debit card. (it was supposed to be billed to the master account). This caused NSF charges to their bank accounts, and was a big hassle. Once we complained, our events person helped take care of it, but there were still some people once we got home that had issues. **Note - don't put down a debit card for incidentals** I felt that the event staff didn't feel the urgency for things to be right. There was a conference room that we were using for breakout sessions that had a leak in the middle of the ceiling as soon as we got there. Instead of them saying that they were on it and getting it fixed, we had to raise heck to get them to do anything. So we brought it to their attention on Sunday afternoon/evening and our conference started Wednesday morning at 9am and we had to use that room. We kept on them, and they finally decided that the smell was bad & they needed to have the carpet changed out - which finished about 9pm on that Tuesday. We then had to go in and set up everything that night so that we could use the room for our conference. The reason the smell was so bad is that the leak was coming from a pipe that was running from the kitchen. The only thing worse would have been if it was coming from the sewer system. We had multiple issues throughout the conference from room temperatures not being ambient, and nothing happening when we reported it to rooms being 'torn down' before we were finished with them. We finally found a great person that was able to help us and get things done. Her name is Angela. She was amazing and I was basically the only one that actually listened to our complaints, and followed up. She was the only one that was close to Disney caliber & Marriott caliber. I hope she is rewarded for being such a great event person. My company's Marriott sales person was also down during the week, and was chatting me up. She was asking how things were going, etc, and I was telling her our struggles. I also told her that even though it wasn't up to me, if it was, we would never have another conference at this hotel again. Another issue we ran into was that there was another conference at the hotel the same time we were there. We had very similar letters in our name - ie XYZ company and YZX company - the event staff didn't really do much to help us keep everything separate from the other conference. We had people from the other conference trying to come into our meals & eat our food as well as during breaks, they would come down and eat our snacks. One thing we learned is to make sure that if there's another conference at the same time you are there, check the name. :) I hope that our experience was just a fluke, and most conferences do not have the issues that we had, but if this is the norm, you have been warned.

My boyfriend booked this as a surprise for our last night and it really was a lovely hotel. We stayed on the 5th floor on a corner room with two balcony' s facing towards Hollywood studios so we got to see the fireworks. The room was large and clean with a very comfy bed and a huge tv. There was star bucks coffee and decent toiletries included in the room along with bottled water. The pool and Jacuzzi area was great and we enjoyed a late night dip to relax after a day at Epcot. Epcot is about a 5 min stroll over the bridge or you can jump on the boat. We used the buffet breakfast which wasn't cheap, about $23 but had a lot of yummy food to offer. All the hotel was clean and staff were polite and id stay again any day.

Although I didn't stay at this resort, I did attend a 3 day conference. The resort is beautiful! The meeting rooms were spacious and easy to maneuver, as there were several classes going on at the same time. There is a food court just inside the HUGE lobby, and several more food options down the escalator. Since it was still morning, I went to the Picabu for a breakfast sandwich. It's a cafeteria style eatery with a little store attached. The meal consisted of an egg sandwich with cheese on ciabatta bread, 6 slices of bacon and house potatoes. It was very good and filling. Total for this, a 16 oz soda. and a bag of chex snacks was $18. Expect to pay for day use parking $23 or $33 for valet, per day. Shopped in the boutique next to the lobby for a gift. Very nice store; They have Brighton and Lilly Pulitzer without a huge markup. Overall, a nice place. Hopefully I will stay in the hotel on my next visit to Orlando.
