Checked in night of 2/9 and assigned a room. Room was not clean and ready for guest. Was assigned another room. Decent but older property. Base on some info found in room, seems this was a best western at some point. Staff friendly, but pool cold, jacuzzi not operational. Price was decent for the 4 day stay, but if they want repeat business, they need to work on various issue for this property.

"Unfit for human habitation"

UNFIT FOR HUMAN HABITATION:- Regarding the Shergill Grand Hotel Conference Center Resort in Winter Haven Florida. The first room they gave us was not made up. We got another room, but soon found that the heating was not working on a cold January night. They provided a space heater which helped a little. Then my partner had a shower and found that the tub did not drain. So I could not have a shower at all. The lobby clerk was inexperienced and did not know that there was no repair tech onsite in the evenings...a lot of confusing conversations ensued. The handyman who came to bring us the space heater at first pretended he did not speak English and only spoke to my hispanic girl friend in Spanish. When I saw him later, he heard me complaining at the lobby in English and immediately came and joined the discussion, he spoke perfect English when it suited him ..... The TV housing was bizarre , dangerous, and too small for the TV set, and it tilted at an angle which made it difficult to watch .... and it was impossible to re-tilt the TV, I had to completely lift it up, remove it from the housing, then reorient it and put it back in the housing. I had to do this a couple of times as we moved from the couch to the bed. In the morning we used the microwave to heat some cereal, after 3 minutes, it tripped the circuit breakers in the basement, and most of the room was without electrical power, the lights in the bathroom were also buggered. The room telephone also stopped working and yet again we had to walk half way across the large hotel to the front desk to complain about it in person .... a most miserable stay all around ....------- We checked out early and went to a nearby gym to have a shower,. Jacuzzi soak and recover from the ordeal. This is the second diabolical hotel in a row that I have stayed at in the last 3 months. It seems in recent years the standard of non-chain hotels in the USA has fallen and the costs have sky rocketed ..... it is now at the point where any hotel which is worth staying in needs to be 4-star or higher, and costs about $400 per night ... so from now on we will not travel on pleasure at all. Life at home is much more pleasant, we can control our environment and make ourselves a pleasant place to live ... the people who run independent hotels in USA are incompetent do not give a crap about their visitors.

Where do I start? I should have known this place was a dump from the moment I stepped into the lobby and encountered the most unprofessional clerk I have ever met. The only positive is the OK lobby decor, which is deceiving. The room was filthy, the bathroom was gross. The door to the room was broken, no AC in the room. A roach infested room. Roaches where on the ceiling. "No Joke". We were so disappointed and in shock that this hotel was rated a 3star. There was no way we would have even dared to lay on the beds. We immediately requested a refund and checked into the Holiday Inn which was only a few more dollars and a much better hotel standard.

"Not the most modern, but a great family hotel for Legoland"

Our room was wonderful, with a large porch overlooking the park. We had a microwave and refrigerator. The children enjoyed the hotel being so close to Legoland. While we were on some rides they could see the hotel. They thought the colored blocks on the top of the hotel looked like Legos. This hotel is in the process of being modernized. All of the hotel employees we encountered were very friendly and polite. We had no problems with the elevator, and our main door was on the inside hallway. The free parking and free Wi-Fi were added bonuses. As annual pass holders, we will definitely be returning.

"Location is the only positive (close to Legoland)"

We stayed the night before going to Legoland so that we could be at the gates at rope drop. The location was ideal being only a half mile from the park. After that, there was nothing positive or desirable about this "hotel". To start with, it is a motel, not a hotel. The doors all exit to the outdoors. This may be okay during milder weather, but during December, on a night when the temperature outside reached around 50, it was drafty around the door. The elevator was out of service, but of the 3 floors, they only had a sign on the second floor. No sign on the first or third floors, the ones most likely to wait to use the elevator. Hotel desk staff were unaware the elevator was out of service and directed guests to use the elevator. Ice machines were broken or missing entirely. The only working ice machine seemed to be in behind the front desk. When I went for ice, and informed them about the elevator, one staff member looked at me with disdain like "So? What do you want me to do about it?" I tried to explain that the other desk staff member had directed me to use it and she just nodded and turned away. I later informed the person I had originally spoken with (bumped into her on the way back to my room and she did thank me). The signage from elevators and stairs directing users to the rooms was confusing. You come up the stairs/elevator, see a sign rooms are to the right. You go do and around a corner and end up at a railing with no signs. The landing goes left and them bends around to your right (like a U-turn). You turn left, the rooms are not there, you have to go back and around the U-turn. With the elevator out, there were 3 unmarked places where we had to try to find our rooms and made finding the room alone a frustrating experience while carrying luggage. Although a computer was provided in the lobby, there was no printer available and the only way to print was to email documents to a gmail account and have the desk staff print it behind a wall. So, no way to print secure information including credit card information, business information, or even personal information. It was okay for us trying to print Legoland tickets (fortunately not receipts), but I would not email personal information to print this way. As for the rooms, they were worse than the general upkeep of the facility itself. The carpet was filthy. At one point, we tried to wipe up a spill of water and the tissues came up dirty. They need to be shampooed badly. The outlets were a major concern. Some had layers of old paint, all would not hold plugs without propping up, and all needed to be replaced (all 3 of the easily accessible ones; we did not check the one behind the dresser with the TV). This feels like a fire hazard waiting to become a disaster. The bathroom was also dirty. The bathtub paint was chipped in multiple places and the drain ring was completely rusted and I was not willing to bathe my children there. There was paint on the floor from when they painted the walls, the workmen didn't even bother to clean up the mess. Sloppy cleaning job as there was dirt and dust on the floor along the edges and walls. Makes you wonder how well anything else in the room was cleaned.
