"Not a "Resort""
July, 2016
This MOTEL is not what it looks on the website. They have 5 stunning pools, ah one per building and not maintained. The pool water was hot and had lots of chlorine. My husband found a roach in the bathroom. My lil one has asthma and mildew is his number one trigger, and yes it was bad when in just a few hours he was sneezing and then thethe wheezing came. We had to checkout and check into a different hotel because my childs health was compromised. One of the hotel staff did say, that they have had mildew and bed bugs in the past. I would have to say a positive would be it's location and the various establishments near by. I purchased this as a package deal that included two parks.
Tip: Looks and smells like a motel on the side of the road. But, the front desk staff and restaurant buffet staff are friendly.

The rooms are average, clean. Could use an upgrade. They are worth $50 per night, not the $125 they say they normally get. The pool was very nice.
Tip: Their breakfast buffet for $7.95 per person. Go to Dennys for better food.

"Only stay here if you cant afford anything else!!"
June, 2016
HORRIBLE place inside. The outside is cute and the pool looks good. BUUUUT then you go inside. The instant you are there at check in they try to get you to buy more stuff lol and then when you get to your room it is just horrible. The inside of our bathroom was moldy looking and had a couple roaches. The "Cleaning" man thought that my money left on the counter was his "tip" he said because he took it! It took me 3days to get it back because he was always "busy" or not around. Just would not stay there again. Was not pleased at all. The hotels we stayed at on the way down for only $42 was nicer! (road trip from texas). Thankfully we didn't spend much time in the room since we were at Disney.
Tip: Roaches, Theft, Dirty

"Confusion"
June, 2016
I called ahead to see if we could use the shuttle to Disney the day we were staying the night. I was told ues no problem. I arrived and asked about the shuttle and eas told that I needed to be checked in to use the shuttle. She told me they had never done that. I told her what I was told over the phone and she handed me a blank room key and said it might work. I actually had no problem but it caused a great deal of anxiety. Room was ok but not worth the price.
Tip: Shuttle times to Disney are extremely limited and there is no guarantee you will get a ride.

Front desk was very friendly, however the room was very worn down. The cabinet was missing a door the blankets and carpets were stained in several different spots i ended up removing the blankets from the beds all together and using ones we brought.

The building is so far away from the restaurant a bit of a hike. The food was not so hot, not worth the money for us. The room was okay, found hair in the bed, the toilet was disgusting, had crap literally caked under the rim, not impressed to say the least. Had to wait several hours to check in because they had lost power for twenty minutes.Dont understand that one. Also had a car broken into in the parking lot. So no we will not stay there ever again. We live only one hour from Disney so we are very familiar with area hotels. We gave this one a try, they failed on cleanliness, service, and saftey. They only win with price..

We stayed one night in the hotel. It was disgusting. There was mold everywhere in the room. There were bugs crawling on the night stand. It was also a pretty scary place in general. Too bad I can't put a zero! This was our first ever time to Florida and this hotel made for a bad experience.

Booked this through Virgin. When we checked in, we were told wrong room number. After wandering round, eventually found the room. At first glance, room seemed OK. But then we noticed that one of the electrical sockets was really loose on the wall. Bathroom had damp patches on the ceiling. Twice during our stay, the housekeeping staff left our room door open. Told reception both times and the maintenance guy can the second time and told us to slam the door when we left! Told him it wasn't us, it was housekeeping. Was assured that management would be told - don't know if they were as no one came to see us. Two days before we left, no electricity at hotel. Couldn't have a shower, only cold wash. No breakfast either. If you have a choice, avoid this hotel. The only good trying about it is the location as it's central for a lot of the attractions

Okay...... so I am a 21 yr old woman. I am visiting with my parents and we have come from the UK. We booked this place with virgin holidays. Anyway ... we arrived at the 'resort' pretty late on the evening, checked in all looked fine... we were placed in room 610 block 15 which is all the way across the parking lot so off we went. Walk into room.. big nasty looking stain on carpet right by the door ew... go to have a shower after a long tiring 9 hour flight and find black curly hairs in the bathroom ew (we all have light hair so definitely not ours) anyway we settle in regardless of these small issues. The resort offers free high speed wifi which was working fine for approximately 2.5 hours when we arrived then promptly stopped working... I am sat here 2 weeks later the day before I check out and the wifi in our room still does not work. I have bought this issue up with staff on several occasions to be fobbed off and just told it will be working by later or the engineers coming tomorrow blah blah blah this is just lies to get you out of the queue. Have to sit in the lobby to get any wifi and even that is temperamental and works when it feels like it lol .... another thing .... about 5 days into our stay I woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom to find we had no electricity. It being about 1am I just went back to bed and hoped it was a small power cut no big deal. But it was a big deal. We woke up at 8am the next morning to find still no electricity and no hot water. We went to raise this issue with staff and all the information they could provide me was that they didn't know when it was coming back on and that they don't have a back up generator. Great..... so we had no way of washing properly or anything. The electricity eventually came back on later that day after about 16 hours. Finally.... today I was having a lie down this afternoon after a busy day as I had a headache, my parents went to sit by the pool. Housekeeping then suddenly opened the door without knocking, realised I was there and then quickly shut the door and then knocked. Was so not impressed!!! Went to the door and asked the lady if we could just have some clean towels please (not mentioning the fact she entered without knocking) she gave me the towels I thanked her and shut the door and put the deadbolt on. She then started banging the door with her fist I opened it and she started shouting at me saying she needs to come in and I told her no we don't need her services (this was 5pm I expected housekeeping to already have been to be honest) and I told her she shouldn't be letting herself in and she denied entering before knocking. Not even going to bother mentioning this to staff because none of them give a monkeys anyway :) only posting this as a warning to others you can do so much better for a hotel. I guess the breakfast was nice though .... $6.99 each for buffet.

This is not a 5 star resort, but they also do not charge a 5 star price. If you want a 5 star resort, please book a 5 star resort. The Maingate Lakeside Resort is a completely acceptable hotel for a budget traveler. Check in was smooth. I was in room 224 with two other people. The room was fine. Beds were comfortable. Mini-fridge worked. Bathroom and sink area was clean. Daily housekeeping service. Nothing to complain about. The pool was heated and clean. I enjoyed it all three days I was there. Ice machine was functional. Mini-golf area could use a little TLC but it was free and we played 4 rounds of golf. Hotel has limited balls and clubs though so sometimes you need to wait for others to finish. The hotel advertises a basketball hoop, but it is no longer there. Pizza Hut express on site. My brother ate there and said it was just like any other Pizza Hut. Breakfast buffet on site. My friend ate there and said it had an average selection but the food was good. Price was $6.99 and included coffee. Juice was $2.00 more. Walking distance to many restaurants including Buffalo Wild Wings, Red Lobster, TGI Fridays, Golden Corral, Cici’s Pizza, Wendy’s, Burger King and others I don’t remember. Adjacent is a Walgreens. Very convenient if you need to pick up small things. Check-out was even smoother. There is a daily resort fee so please don’t complain on here that you were double charged. You were not. It is clear in the reservation the resort fee is not included and is charged separate at the hotel. The resort fee is a little over $5.00 per day. They do put a daily hold on your credit card but that was taken off when I checked out. There is definitely no bait and switch or unethical tactics going on at this hotel. All the staff appeared to be working hard and cared about our stay. The location is also very convenient to Disney property. We were there for Atlanta Braves spring training and it is only a 7-10 minute ride away. Please just remember, this is an older motel, not a 5 star resort. Don’t nit pick about a little things peeling paint. Would I stay here again. Absolutely.
