The staff at this hotel is so sweet and kind and considerate. They blew me away. We attended the FPMA meeting on 2-16 and were greeted with a smile. I will definitely consider having a meeting there in the future

I Had two 5 day stays in December and was really pleased overall. The staff was nice, friendly and very helpful to all of your needs. The only drawback I had when I was there was the WIFI was very poor. It was tough for me to do any work because of the Internet. That would be the only improvement I would like to see!

After reading several T/A reviews and getting the advice of a local business associate regarding the north Tampa area, I decided on staying at the HI-BG. This property is older but looks to be fully renovated at some recent point in time. It's kind of a unique design in the fact that the rooms open up to the outside which most people don't like (think motel vs hotel), however, this property's rooms only open to the fully enclosed & secure courtyard where the pool, patio and restaurant is located. Being in FL, I was ok with this layout. Here's the bad, the middle-ground and the good. First the bad..... (1) My King Leisure room which I normally choose when staying at HI's was tiny and had nowhere to sit other than the desk/office chair. Luckily, I was on a solo business trip. I couldn't imagine having more than one person in the room (2) The electrical outlets on the lamps don't work. Unfortunately I didn't realize it till the next morning when my phone & iPad were not charged up when plugged in to two different lamps (3) One of my room keys wouldn't work when I returned from dinner. The 2nd one finally worked after multiple attempts. The next morning, neither would open the exercise room. I went to the front desk and exchanged them for two new ones. Returned to the exercise room and neither of these two worked either. The only exercise I got was the hike to the front desk & back. Now, the middle ground..... (1) The room was very clean or at least I thought so until I went to get in the shower after my vigorous hike to the lobby. As I turned on the water, I noticed a long black hair sticking out from the drain which normally I can overlook one or two. Upon gazing over the entire tub, there were a total of six long (6-8" in length) black hairs from one end to the other (2) The ductless AC unit is very quiet but I could never find the "sweet spot" for the temperature setting which is normally not a problem for ductless systems. Finally the good..... (1) The bed was fairly comfortable. The mattress was firm but not too hard (2) The Burger Theory restaurant & bar in the middle of the courtyard is really great. Good casual food and decent selection of beers for the size of the restaurant and Syreeta behind the bar is awesome as well as the rest of the restaurant staff (3) Last but not least, the entire staff in the hotel is very friendly.

When you walk in the living room is there and the bathroom , then there is the bedroom with King bed in the back , there is a door that closes off the bedroom from the living room/kitchen area. We had a friend stay in the front on the couch , but she could use the bathroom when needed and we had a door that closed to the bedroom. It was very convenient. The bed linens are nice. The pool area is nice. We did not try the hotel food. There is a bar and restaurants next door on either side. Also very convenient for USF
