"First stay at a deluxe resort "
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5
Reviewed June 20, 2018 NEW
We’ve previously stayed at value and moderate resorts and decided to splurge on a deluxe for this trip. We chose this deluxe for its location and pool, neither were a disappointment. The convenience of being able to walk to both Hollywood Studios and Epcot was great. The pool is tons of fun and never felt crowded. We enjoyed ice cream at Beaches and Cream but other than that we found the food options to be lacking. There are some nicer places at the resort but a cafeteria option would’ve been nice like at the value and moderate places but maybe that isn’t a deluxe resorts style...just would’ve been convenient. The beds are very comfortable and the room upgrades are nice. There was just something lacking. I didn’t feel like the place screamed DELUXE. For the price I had hoped for a noticeable difference in experience but actually encountered less knowledgeable cast members and less magic all around. It’s been 2 years since our last visit so I hope that’s not standard. One of my favorite things about a trip to Disney is how every cast member makes your trip memorable and I just didn’t get that this time. Yacht Club was fine but if we choose to stay in a deluxe resort again we’ll pick a different one.

We really enjoyed this property and have very little negative to say about it. Pros: -proximity to Epcot (negligible walk) -proximity to Hollywood studios (considerable walk which we did not do but I wish we had) -proximity to the Boardwalk (lots of fun to do there in the evenings) -fantastic pool (shared with the Beach Club) its not a waterpark, its just a nice pool that I would expect at a resort of this caliber. I would compare it to the JW Orlando, Hilton bonnet creek or Four Seasons Orlando except it has the sand bottom which definitely makes it unique and fun. The slide is good but not a water park quality slide. We did have some trouble finding a good/shady spot mid day; had to settle for sunny. Also the sand and pavement get painfully hot so don't leave your flip flops/water shoes far behind. -fantastic activities: Donald, Daisy, goofy and Mickey showed up pool side to ChaCha w the kids. Also the campfire marshmallows were awesome (they provide the marshmallows and sticks, if you want you will need to bring your own graham crackers and chocolate) Of note the characters/activities are on the Beach club side -loved the rooms: newly renovated with clean/efficient design and laminate floors. Great roomy shower and sink area. We had 2 queen beds and a pull out couch that was twin sized. Bathroom had double sink. Room had a Keurig and good sized fridge that kept our bottled waters/gatorades cold and ready for the next days adventures. We were on the 3rd floor and had a nice balcony w/ two chairs and small table which was a nice place to have a bite in the AM. Where there was not room for a night stand they put in a corner shelf which allows both ppl in the bed to have their phone next to them. No alarm clock giving off a eerie glow at night; just more space for your stuff. Plenty of outlets and places to charge your devices. We had a standard room but our view was still nice, though we overlooked what seemed like a service walkway which was very busy in the AMs. No issue with noise outside or from other guests. -beautiful, elegant but still warm lobby: it was not cavernous like AKL or overly formal Grand Floridian. (FYI, I did not like AKL) We really enjoyed the décor/atmosphere -Adequate service: nothing spectacular here. everyone was friendly and did their job well, which is as to be expected -Ale and Compass: I gave this 4/5 rating but the more I think about it the more I feel this is closer to 5/5. It was really great and I would call it a hidden gem because no one was there. I'd like to go back and try the parker house roll service. Avoided it because we were eating before hitting the pool :D -The view: able to see Epcot and HS fireworks with ease from the end of Yacht club or from the Boardwalk area. -Landscaping: its just such a beautiful setting! -Value: for a deluxe resort, I thought this place was a decent value considering it is Disney. Cons: - hall layout is labyrinthine; so many turns and corners. Our first room was clear at the end of the bank of rooms and took us forever to get to. We requested to be moved closer to the lobby which was much easier to handle. Looking at Beach club from its exterior, it does not seem it would have the same problem -there are no villas here which may make it less favorable for families with smaller children. In general it is more geared to adults -smoking: we had no issues with smokers/smoking as I read on a recent review but I can see how that could be a potential problem for some ppl -Its dog friendly: again this can be an issue for some pp; -I hated, and I can't say that strongly enough, the bus system. There was no boat service to HS during our stay due to refurbishments, so we decided to take the bus as we were assured the buses were dedicated to Yacht/Beach during the refurbishement period and would not stop at Baordwalk and Swan/Dolphin. When we went to take one in the AM there was no posted arrival time on the sign and 2 MK buses, 2 AK buses, one magical express, one Disney Springs and one MCO bus came by before the HS bus came. We could have easily walked there in that time. Getting home at the end of the day, we were crammed in like sardines and the bus stopped at EVERY other epcot resort before yacht/beach. Again, I hated it. If you're able bodied and its not raining/boiling hot, just walk. Overall we would come here again.

"Yacht Club is goood but lacking in some things."

We stayed here during hurricane Irma last sept of 2017. It was a club level which wasn’t very bad but not great as it could have been. I say this because of the thin walls you could every thing the people next to you . It lasted like for 5 hours unacceptable to me. I sleep very light therefore I couldn’t get back to sleep. Lucky for us we got to sleep most of the time we were there since the parks were closed. When they were open the Disney boats did not run but the provided a bus to the studios. And you could walk to Epcot. In all In wasn’t that bad but in fairness it was good sleeping on those beds

"O.K resort. Cigarette box left outside door."

I’ve stayed at all of the Disney resorts.. I rate this resort a 5/10. I noticed that this resort offers smoking in areas that non-smokers have to walk through.. this was extremely disgusting as I have a toddler who had to breathe in those fumes to get to the pool. There were rocking chairs on the porch overlooking the pool. To get to the pool you have to walk by this area and it was unpleasant having to breathe that in every time you walk to the pool.. we had a beautiful water view. Our second night (11 PM) we started to smell cigarette smoke coming from the air conditioning vents. The smell overpowered the entire room. Worried about my family breathing in the toxic chemicals I called the front desk.. The woman on the phone seemed to be extremely annoyed about us calling. She told us that it would be very difficult to pinpoint whoever was smoking... frustrated, we went to bed.. the next morning my husband hears a knock on the door and goes outside to find an empty cigarette box perfectly placed in the middle of our room service tray from the night before... I immediately called the front desk who told me that someone must’ve just placed it there on their way by. I told the woman that I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the box was left outside our door as we were the ones who reported a smoking smell from inside our room from the vents. She told me someone would call me back shortly.... no one called me.. the next day my husband went down to the front desk and we were given the same answer. They offered us a $150 room credit.. it was nice, however we spent the rest of our vacation not feeling very comfortable or safe as someone from Disney obviously found the smoker and told them we complained. At the very least I expected one night room fee credit.. We took a picture of the empty cigarette box, which as you can see doesn’t look like someone “tossed” it on their way out. Resort Pros: Walking distance to Epcot. Big pool Awesome firework views. Resort Cons: Cigarette smokers in common areas Lobby smells like porta potty Lobby is dull and needs some “brightening” Employees giving out personal information to other guests

"Disney for Adults"

We went for a six-day vacation with our 19 and 22-year-old kids. We were looking for a quieter hotel with entertainment geared toward adults. The Yacht Club did not disappoint! Check-in was a breeze. The room had 2 queen beds and a sofa bed big enough for an adult. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean and water pressure in the shower was great. We never heard people in adjacent rooms or running up and down the hallway. We stayed on the first floor with a patio and near the quiet pool and hot tub. Quick serve meal options were plentiful at Yacht Club and the attached Beach Club. Walking distance to Epcot. View of the fireworks and the Boardwalk was a five minute walk and was fun at night. We will be back!
