"There will be resort parking fees"

This was our first stay at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, and it will be our last. What a epic failure this trip was for our family. First, Disney charges a "resort parking fee" if you drive and park your car. 17.84 plus 1.17 in tax? PER DAY! TO PARK MY CAR? we have never experienced this with any other property, and please look over my reviews we stayed at Disney a lot. Secondly, The main dinning area and front desk is brand new, apparently they demolished the old check in, and quick service area to make way for a new resort under construction. The quick service area is anything buy quick. You place your order from one main location, the you get a pager and wait to pick up your food, different from any other quick service we have used. The bad part, the food is cold by the time you get it, defiantly Mickey-Mouse! Third- Housekeeping or lack of it. We were given the option while we were checking in to "opt" out of housekeeping for 30.00 refunded to a gift card, Housekeeping had also left a message on our room phone before we checked in offering the same gift card, we said no we wanted housekeeping. Once we finally got to our room, we noticed that the carpet had not been vacuumed, needed to be cleaned or replaced. I must say the room looked dated. We have stayed at Pop Century, All Star Movies, Music, and Sports. While we noticed that these room had been the same until the recent renovation of Pop (read my reviews) it's time for a complete re-do not just your front desk area. My hope is that families traveling here would read reviews and do some research before picking your place to stay.

Am currently staying at this resort. We will be leaving tomorrow and to be honest that can not come soon enough. I travel to Disney at least once a year this is my second trip this year. This is my first stay at this resort. It was chosen because at the time I booked we needed a room that would sleep 5. The resort is recently remodeled and the new parts are very nice. The food court seems adequate but we did not eat there. In fact during our 6 night stay we were at the main building a total of 3 times. Why? well because the main building is a very long walk from the room we were assigned. Jamaica 4306. I will say, the resort is quiet and there were no problems noise. We arrived after midnight. I asked for bell services to take our luggage to the room. It took 28 minutes. I was regretting not just walking to the room but the front desk said there were some wooden walkways and I didn't want to drag my luggage across that. The next morning we walked to the front of the resort to pick up our refillable mugs. Some wooden walkways is an understatement. There is a huge long wooden bridge you have to cross to get to the main building. There is an internal shuttle that runs every 20 minutes, if you are lucky. The problem with the internal shuttle is the distance from the bus stop to your destination. From our bus stop you have to walk across a parking lot to get to the room. We were the 4th stop out of 5. This resort is extremely large. It takes 15 minutes to walk from Jamaica to the front desk. On Monday it rained, and rained, and rained some more. Everything we had on was drenched. I called the front desk to ask about the dryers. Did I need quarters---that kind of thing. I was told by the front desk that if I had set my magic band up to charge things that I could simply use that. So off we went dragging the heavy bag full of dripping clothes to the quiet pool area to throw them in the dryer. So, no place to scan your magic band> no place for quarters. And the instructions are on the opposite wall from the machine you need to use to start a dryer. Thankfully there was another guest there to help because the front desk person didn't know anything. You are required to use a credit card on the machines. I went to the front desk the following morning and I was told that they were of course very sorry but calls to the front desk are answered by Guest services and they really don't have the information for each resort. My question is why am I being led to believe I am speaking to the front desk of my resort when I am in fact speaking to someone that is not even on the property? Tuesday morning we walked over to the main pool to use the hot tub. We asked and were told by one of the lifeguards that the pool and spa hours were 7am to 11pm, unless there is bad weather. Tonight after a horrendous dinner, which I will review later, we decided to take the internal bus up to the front of the resort and use the hot tub. 9:45 pm it is closed and there is a sign there that says pool and spa hours are 10am-8pm.One would think that the people that work there would no what the hours of operation are. But not at Disney's Caribbean Resort. When I asked about the hours the girl at the front desk said they always close the pool at 8pm when it is cold outside. It was 69. And the pool is heated. Plus the whole point of a hot tub is to warm you in the cold. It is clear that at this resort the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I would not recommend this resort to my worst enemy. It is far too big. It takes two sometimes three times more time and energy to do anything. We were unable to use any of the resorts amenities because of the time needed to get to them.

If you read my other reviews, you'll find I'm a huge Disney fan, and generally, Disney can't do much wrong in my eyes (or my wife's either). We did a split stay this trip. We spent 6 nights at Port Orleans Riverside, and had to transfer over to Caribbean Beach for 2 nights because Port Orleans was full for the weekend. We knew this going in, and were fine with it. We have stayed at Caribbean Beach before, and while it wasn't our favorite, it was okay for a short stay. We had to switch resorts Saturday, so we planned it as our down day. We left our bags with Bell Services to transfer to Caribbean Beach at around 9am, and proceeded to go to Disney springs for the day until we received the text that the room was ready. We were hoping the room would be ready early since we were tired and really wanted a nap in the afternoon. At 3pm a text came through stating that the room was not yet ready, so we walked around Disney springs for another hour, then decided that we would go to Caribbean Beach and ask at the desk. We arrived at Caribbean Beach a little before 5pm and were told the room still wasn't ready. We went to the bar, had a drink, then re-approached the desk about a half hour later. A nice gentleman took care of us, and we immediately were given a room. He assisted us in getting our bags from Bell Services and a ride to the room in Trinidad (building 37). Bell services was great. The gentleman helping us was very friendly and eager to help as much as possible. Upon arrival to the room (#3717) we realized that we were given a handicapped accessible room. This wasn't an issue since we were only staying for 2 nights, and the room seemed nice enough. It was a pirate themed room, and very cute. That's where the positive comments end. The room was not very clean. The floors hadn't been vacuumed, the headboards and chairs were dusty, and overall the room was tired and in need of a some updating. One of the biggest issues we encountered happened during the night. I got up to use the bathroom, and stepped bare-footed onto something cold and mushy. It stuck to my foot, and I could feel it moving. Really freaked out, I turned on the light to find I stepped on a worm that was about 2 inches long, and it was still alive. I reached for some tissues on the vanity only to find 3 more worms crawling on the wall and vanity. I quickly smooshed them and flushed them down the toilet hoping my wife wouldn't see them because at 3am, I didn't want to change rooms. I washed my foot, and returned to bed. I made sure I got up before her in the morning to do worm patrol before she saw them. I found 2 more, and disposed of them. They continued to be a problem at night for the remainder of our stay. I disposed of at least a dozen in 2 nights. The sidewalk outside the room was covered in these worms in the mornings and after it rained. I know they're a natural occurrence, and pose no real problem except for being a nuisance, but my wife viewed it differently. The next big problem was the bed. The room had two full-size beds. This is a little rough for two adults. we are not overly large, but it was still a struggle to be comfortable. The mattresses were terrible. I'm not sure if the mattresses were different from a regular room, but they were only about 6 inches thick, and provided no support whatsoever. I'm assuming they were very low due to this room being an accessible room, but it may be the standard for a pirate room, so be aware. By the end of the second night we both were experiencing back problems, and happy to leave the beds behind to head home. The next let-down was the food in the resort. On the evening we checked in, we were tired, and decided to utilize the quick serve at Centertown Market (the main quick serve for the resort). I ordered a slice of deep-dish pizza, and my wife ordered the Chorizo burger. Both were the worst food we've ever had at any Disney Dining location. The pizza arrived with all the cheese in a puddle on the plate, and not a single bit on the pizza. The dough was raw except for the very outer edge, and the sauce the pizza was swimming in was straight out of the can. The Chorizo burger was bland and dry. It didn't even taste like Chorizo...it tasted like Polish sausage, and the texture was rubber. Even the roll was bad. Stale and like a sponge. We overheard many other people complaining about the food there. There was a lot of food being thrown away by other customers. I asked to speak to a manager. A manager came quickly, and seemed sympathetic, but it was all just lip service. She offered nothing, but sympathy. It was clear that she was used to the complaints, and I just wasted $25 on garbage. We will not be returning to Caribbean Beach Resort, and not recommend it to anyone of our friends when we help them plan trips. Go to Port Orleans instead.

My family and I stayed at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort during Thanksgiving week of 2018. This was our first trip to Disney and the resort staff, along with the Disney staff, made this an amazing trip. The rooms were great, the beds were comfortable and the Caribbean theme was so calming to come back to after a busy day at the parks. I would definitely stay here again!!
