We thought this might be a more sensical alternative to some of the deluxe hotels. We were wrong. There is a HUGE difference in the two price points and I would not recommend this resort. This is Disney's newest resort, but the floor in the entrance area is stained and unclean able (with what looks like inverted cleat floor). The lobby restrooms are already aged, and there was only one staff member when we checked in the hotel though there are stations for four. The check-in process was in error when we arrived because the automated room check-in text was not working for us. When we arrived, and after waiting 20 minutes for assistance, we were told it was because our number was not in the system. When we logged in to our account our number was there and when we called customer service on the spot, it was in their system. The ground floor carpets are already dingy from supporting more traffic than the carpet was engineered to experience routinely. The suite was VERY small. I'm not sure how they took the pictures that are on the travel sites, but they are very small. The bathrooms are nice, but the trim/tile/grout/caulk is showing wear. The couch is around (or less than) four feet across of seating area. That bed is awful. The Mater/Murphy bed is the best on in the suite, and the main bed is a double/queen bed and the mattress quality is that of a cheap hotel chain. The food court is better than average for the convenience. One thing that is reported on all the travel sites is that this has it's own bus run. This is true, but there are VERY few. This has not been reported, and is pretty frustrating when the tertiary buses show up more often that this one does.

We booked a last minute trip to WDW and could not get rooms at any of the other resorts where have previously stayed. We usually stay at the moderate price resorts. Art of Animation is classified as budget which we usually avoid because many school groups , cheer leaders, band, high school seniors etc. stay in these resorts. To the point... we loved it! This place will definitely appeal to the kiddies. It has different themed buildings such as Nemo, Cars, etc. We stayed in the Cars building. There were lots of cute photo op props of Cars movie characters all around outside. Our 6 yr old grandson loved it. The theme continued inside and into or suite. We booked a family suite which was very comfortable . A master bdrm with a queen bed and full bath with walk in shower, A queen size sofa sleeper that was surprisingly comfortable and a really cute Murphy bed that actually converts to a table. The Murphy bed is full size. There is another full bathroom and a kitchen area. Our party had 4 adults and 1 child and we didn't feel jammed up. There will be lots of walking, but that's par for the course with Disney resorts. Nice gift shop, good restaurant, 2 pools. Only thing we didn't like was the guest laundry. The machines are not coin operated, you need to swipe your credit card so bring it or you will have to hike back to your room. It's all electronic and the process is a bit confusing. I will definitely save the price difference next time and book at this resort. The grounds may not be as fancy or luxurious as the moderate or deluxe resorts but Art of Animation is a fun, family oriented, very imaginative resort that your kids, grandkids and you will love.

"Great Stay at Art of Animation"

We traveled to the AofA from October 9th -15th. Our family of 4 (35,34,4,2) stayed in Building 10, room 514. We did the online check in and received a text an hour before scheduled check in to let us know the room was ready. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay. Building 10 (Lion King) is one of the closest to the Disney Transportation pickup/drop off so we never had more than a 5 minute walk. The room was clean and provided us ample room. We ordered groceries from GardenGrocer.com and the order was in the room upon arrival. Walking around the resort and you are in a Disney wonderland. My kids loved stopping by the Rafiki statue each and every time walking back from the main building. We swam in the Big Blue Pool 4 different nights after returning from the parks, and it is was very refreshing. Sunday night the pool was very warm....almost felt like bathwater. The other 3 nights it was a bit cooler. The lifeguards do an awesome job and were always very friendly. The music underwater was a hit with my 4 year old, although in all the time we spent there I only recognized 1 song. (Volcano by Jimmy Buffet) We ate at the dining area 3 times. My kids loved the build your own pasta option. We had good service at each place although the Burger and Sandwich spot was a bit slow. We used the quick service dining plan and knew that the food options wouldnt be spectacular but were pleasantly surprised overall. The cast members at the hotel were wonderful and always very helpful. I would recommend this resort to anyone, especially those with younger kids. Yes it is a little pricier than other value resorts (we payed $358/night) but it was well worth it for the extra bathroom and square feet in the room.

"Beautiful classic Disney decor "

I personally love all the Disney decor everywhere. I love the little touches like the plants, flowers and grass that differ in each area to go with specific sets. Our room was beautiful with the pearl light on the clamshell beds, mirrors, shower walls and unique table and chairs. You can really feel like you're transported into the movie. Each pool area had it's own special touches like the cones to sit inside in the Cars pool. The music underwater in the Nemo pool was very entertaining to my 10 year old. Love the sketch pads on each resort building. All so very creative and you can't help but be amazed. Landscape of Flavors food court was not my favorite. Didn't care for the lack of food choices and missed having All Star Music Resorts roasted chicken. We stayed in Little Mermaid building #8 and it was the furthest away from transportation despite my room request to be near the shuttles. It was too long of a walk to the pools, food court, luggage carts and shuttles. Hated the fact that when arriving at Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs aka Downtown Disney the Art of Animation bus pick ups were also the very last areas. It added up to alot of extra walking and very sore feet at the end of the night. Probably wouldn't stay there again just based on the walking distance.

"BEST Disney Hotel on a Budget"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

This place is a gem! It's the best "Disney" themed hotel that the property has to offer. 4 main sections - The Little Mermaid Section (standard resort rooms, 2 queen beds, mini fridge) and then Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars sections (family suits, 1 bedroom and a pull out couch and a table that turns into a bed - so cool!!). The décor around the resort is amazing, tastefully Disney and not too child-like. The staff is helpful and the lines usually move pretty fast in the lobby. Microwaves are ONLY available in the family suites - if you have a medical reasoning they can bring you one in the little mermaid rooms. There are 3 pools .... the Finding Nemo pool is the best because if you go underwater you can actually HEAR Nemo and friends playing! So COOL. If you're here on business, there's printing and computers available for use in the main lobby. Would recommend to families or grow-ups who want to live in their favorite stories.
