"One Cast Member Ruined My Disney Buzz."

We have stayed at Disney property many, many times. This was our first stay at this resort. It's cute, and I was fine with that. We had a text that our room was ready prior to arriving and we were able to go straight to our room. That was very nice We had a small issue when we arrived and Kevin the manager of housekeeping was an A+ Disney player. I wish I could give him a 5 star reveiw, he was just so nice. We had another issue and when I called the front desk. It seems they have a prankster here. Our toothpaste disappeared on the day that housekeeping did not show (that's right they blew us off the first day) when we got up the next morning our toothpaste was gone. I called the front desk and the lady (i wish i remembered her name, I asked but don't recall) she sighed several times as I spoke and dismissed me. I expect this at a discount hotel but never at a Disney property. I saw a lady walking the property I thought might be a manager. I asked, she took a long pause, looked me up and down and said, "well I work here" I explained the situation and she seemed to be bothered by me rather than care that someone had a poor experience. Please keep in mind when I spoke with her and the front desk lady, it was in a lighthearted way, perhaps had I been raging with anger I would have been met with a better response. I should hope not. Needless to say, we shall not stay at this resort again. So sad too, it was truly really cute and nice but the staff with the exception of Kevin (that I interacted with) are not up to the Disney standard.

The resort: We picked this place because of price and the ability to sleep all five of us. We wanted the full Disney experience and to have the dining plan. If you’re looking for the same, I would suggest spending a little more to get a nicer place. For the amount of money we spent, I expected this resort to be nicer. The mattresses were impossibly uncomfortable (soooo hard). The room looked old and dingy, even though it’s one of the newer properties. We were next to the stairwell door and the kids who were sleeping in the living room were woken up each time someone came in or out. It was also not that clean when we got there. Smelled like a mixture of smoke and chlorine and there was even a cheerio on the floor. The lines are not just in the parks. We waited about 45 minutes to get checked in. Then any time we went to the “food court” it would take at least an hour to wait in line for food, wait to get the food, wait in line to pay, and then (finally) eat. In contrast, we visited two other resorts for meals - they were beautiful and service was outstanding compared to AofA. Another thing to say about staying at a “value” resort - the transportation is always farthest away for AofA (and seemingly for the other value resorts). When you leave the park at the end of a long day and then have to walk and walk and walk to get to the bus stop.... Housekeeping: I called one morning (probably around 8 am) and let housekeeping know that one of the kiddos had an accident on the sofa bed. They assured me they’d bring more sheets. They only brought one blanket. We got back late that night and needed to make the bed so they could get to sleep. Called again to get sheets. Housekeeping came and brought 2 blankets. I told her that we needed sheets and finally received them 45 minutes later (around 9 pm). Dining Plan: While not totally AofA’s fault, we had issues with our dining plan and how AofA’s staff “fixed” it. About an hour after we ate at Hollywood and Vine we were charged for 2 additional meals and tip. I didn’t know until I looked a couple of days later at our remaining balance and it showed that we had no table credits left. Huge problem when we should be using 2 for each person at the luau that night. I went down to talk to the front desk. She removed the extra tip and said the luau credits had already been billed. Whew! Crisis averted... or not. We got to the luau and they wouldn’t let us in without paying for 2 meals (the ones that were charged at H&V) with our credit card. The front desk personnel could have taken care of it when I was there, but she didn’t take the time to actually review and figure out why we had the tip charged to our account. The Luau staff had to call the front desk at AofA and get them to fix it... again so they could reverse the charge on our card. With Disney being world-renound for their customer experiences (they’ve even come to the large company where I work to talk about said experiences), we felt like there was a big difference between our expectations and reality here. They did end up fixing the problems we had, but would expect there to not be so many in the first place. Feel like in this case, they over promised and under delivered - definitely not magical.

First time here at AofA and I have to say its very nice, we had 6 adults and one child which got a little cramp but not to bad since we were at the parks most of the time. My son loved the Cars room and would hug lightening mcqueen every morning we left. The maids were great and the atmosphere alone in the resort was amazing. The buses did get a little crowded but that is expected being Disney. My only complaint was how boring the food was and the price of the food. Its not worth what they charge, also breakfast in the morning here is a madhouse. I recommend coming here though just do not stay in the Little Mermaid area since the walk alone from the lobby is quite far, lion king, nemo and cars are a short walk from the lobby.

The beds were so comfortable that we noted what they were to buy after we save up some money. It is the last or second to the last bus and a LONG, LONG wait to finally be picked up. The rooms are adorably furnished. It has the biggest pool Disneyworld has to offer. Since my feet are skin on bone, the walks are painful. Renting a scooter from Disney is more expensive, so go with a different company. The only surface that felt nice was a small patch made of tennis shoe material. The rest is a fibromyalgia nightmare. That is in all the parks as well. The customer service is splendid. I would consider a resort with less waiting time at the bus though. That was tedious and painful.

Just came back after spending 5 days at this resort. We were in the lion king suites. The theming through out the resort is very disney and whimsical. Our suite had interior door entrance. Initially I liked this for security reasons but then realized no one shuts the door fully and the interior doors slamming most of the night reverberates in the hall. This is a huge resort and can be tiring at the end of the day because there is only 1 bus stop in front of animation hall for all the parks. Our room was a decent size for 4 people. There is 1 bedroom with its own tv, full bath w walk in shower, and a double bed. In the main living area is a cool looking but not very useful chair. There is a double pull out sofa. The table has 4 chairs and with an easy pull becomes a double size Murphy bed. The second bath has a tub w a separate vanity area that can be closed off from the rest of the room by a pocket door. The kitchenette has a small refrigerator, microwave, and sink area. Disney is now offering $5-10 per day for you to skip maid service. We first noticed this when we stayed at the dolphin a few weeks earlier. When I'm on vacation I don't want to be cleaning and scrounging for towels so we did not opt in. There r 3 pools at the resort and they all seemed pretty busy.during our stay. There r towels right at the pools and laundry facilities at each as well. The washers and dryers were $3 each load and u use a credit card. The coolest thing is that there is a web site laundryview.com that u can use to keep track of the particular washer/dryer u r using, so u don't have to keep checking on it or let it sit while others r waiting to use the facilities. There is a good size food court with a nice variety for each meal as well as room delivery pizza. The store has the usual sundries and must have disney paraphernalia. One thing I found out that was super helpful for those of us who over buy then have to fly home, you can have your non food disney purchases shipped to ur home from the resort gift shop. We had purchased several Christmas balls and other items. Disney will pack and ship to ur home for a nominal fee. We had cold and dry items delivered to bell services by instacart with no problems. We also needed a jazzy wheelchair for a family member. It was delivered then later we dropped it off at bell services without any problems. Just an fyi for those using disney magical express Disney is now scheduling pick ups about 4 hrs before ur flight. Security at Orlando does not want u to get in line until 2hrs before ur flight. All in all we greatly enjoyed this resort
