Just returned from Orlando having stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge for a week. It was not our first choice but due to a double booking we were offered this alternative. It’s setting is stunning but it’s location to the parks is noticeable. Buses are regular but it still takes time to get to each, apart from Animal Kingdom. Rooms are nice and staff were efficient and friendly. We ate on site a couple of times in the restaurant and the cafe. Food was nice but would not say it was stunning. Pool looked lovely but small.

We stayed in Jambo House in a room with a balcony. Our 2nd floor balcony provided a view of the animal compound where everyday we were able to see giraffes, zebras, ostriches, gazelles and caribou, as well as some animals we didn't recognize. There are other viewing areas accessible to all guests on the 2nd floor as well as in the main lodge area. The only issue we had was on our last night's stay when we had to get up the next morning about 2 AM for departure for an early flight at MCO. The hotel let us know that our power would be off anywhere from midnight to 5AM. This is apparently an annual power, fire and safety check. This is a Disney resort, so I expected much more than a pre-printed notice telling me they were sorry for any inconvenience. We had to use our cell phone "flashlight" feature to get ready in a dark room. Since this is an annual event, Animal Kingdom Lodge management should have been prepared and provided battery powered light sources in the affected rooms- when notified about early flights and necessary before daylight hotel departure times. That is what i would have expected from a Disney property experience. Are you listening Jambo House management?

"Not worth the money "

The rooms are tiny. We stayed in a queen room with a bunk bed and as soon as we walked in I instantly regretted it. We had no room for our four bags, only one bathroom to get ready in and the restaurants are not affordable for a family of four. I realize this is a higher caliber of hotel but it’s just not our style. It was cool to have the animals right outside our room every day but in the end that was just not worth the extra price for us.

"Just magical"

In terms of pure logic, you could say it's expensive for what it is, the rooms are small, it was very disappointing that at the time we stayed the main pool was being refurbished... but boy, this place is magical. We had what was described as a "partial savannah view" but in reality we could see a lot - really did have giraffes outside our room on many occasions during our stay. It's not that close to the theme parks (except Animal Kingdom, obviously) so if you're relying on the buses as we did then you need to leave plenty of time. As soon as you walk into the lobby, it's an amazing place. Would dearly love to stay there again some day.

"Beautiful hotel minutes from Animal Kingdom"

This hotel was fabulous! The lodge's decor is beautiful, and the people who work there so friendly. There are plenty of activities for the kids (most are free) and the view from our room was fantastic! Every morning we would get up to see which animals were by our window. The rooms are very nice and big - 2 queen beds. They have a great pool with a pool bar. Also have 2 hot tubs. Would definately go back.
