"Third visit … still amazing!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed November 22, 2017 NEW
I last reviewed this hotel in November 2014, when we took what was intended to be a one-off special trip here for 2 weeks. We loved it so much that this year we repeated that so-called “once in a lifetime” trip as we felt life would be incomplete without another visit, so it had to be done! A lot of what I said last time still stands, and the hotel was up to the same good standard as previously. Nothing seriously negative to report although the bathrooms are still the same (maintenance OK but the room with the bath and WC in is small and not what I’d consider luxurious for the grade of the hotel, plus the bath towels are too small to wrap around sufficiently for my liking). Our room had an interconnecting door which we were initially wary of, having experienced one or two in the UK which have had poor soundproofing, but surprisingly no worries on that front from ours! However, now and again there were sounds to be heard from other areas, such as the toilet flushing in the room above (which must have had a different layout to our room as the toilet was above our beds). The shuttle buses can still get packed at times, with people squashed in standing, and it can be tiresome after a long day in the parks when the buses pass Jambo house to call at Kidani village first to drop off/pick up guests (I can still remember the days before Kidani was built when this wasn’t an issue). Those minor points out of the way, once again we had an amazing time and everyone we came in contact with at the hotel was so friendly and kind. As a very special treat we upgraded from a pool view to savannah view this time and also to club level, which was excellent (and our first experience of club level). I cannot say whether it was worth the extra cost as it was a surprise treat so I don’t know how much it cost, but would love to do club level again if it was affordable. You have access to the 6th floor, which is not available to standard guests. The concierge team up there were so incredibly helpful and one of them was waiting outside the hotel for us to arrive from the airport. They then whisked us upstairs to get registered whilst comfortably sat enjoying a complimentary drink of our choice and chatting about where we’d come from … so stress-free compared to queuing in the lobby, and what a welcome! At different times throughout the day, until 10pm, there are various complimentary snacks put out on club level to help yourself to and you can either eat in the club lounge or take snacks/drinks back to your room. Alcoholic drinks are available too, but depending on the time of day you may need to ask a member of staff to bring them to you as they are not always put out. The concierge staff were brilliant in helping us change some of our schedule around. We had religiously planned dining reservations and FastPasses on the very first day they became available to book, so there shouldn’t have been much need for assistance, but then we had to unexpectedly cancel/reschedule some of our plans and the team were so helpful, friendly and kind. They were often able to get tricky reservations that you’d struggle to get yourself, so their assistance was invaluable. One of the many highlights of our holiday was at the hotel for the Wanyama Safari and dinner at Jiko. Again, this was a special treat for one of us. We had African snacks in Jiko first, then a 1.5 hour safari around all the savannahs at the hotel in a small group (of 10 adults in our case), learning about the animals and routines. After that we had a 4 course family style meal in Jiko with a cocktail and wine included, plus a little gift afterwards. I think the whole experience took around 5 hours. Well worth doing if you love animals and have a special occasion (we had other couples celebrating birthdays on our trip)! As per last time, we used one of the laundry rooms a couple of times. There are so many machines that there’s never any worry that they’ll all be occupied. One point to note is that they have now converted the machines to take credit cards only which is probably fine for people who live in the country, but for those of us from overseas who get charged extra on each overseas credit card transaction, it’s not so good! This time we were lucky enough to have booked early and got the free Disney dining plan, so had much more choice as to where we ate for the fortnight, including at the parks and at other resort restaurants. Well worth booking the holiday way in advance to get the free dining and other perks, as we were not tied to cheap quick service restaurants and had some much better dining experiences (for once being able to order the most expensive items on the menu and not worry about the cost)! To sum up, another superb holiday at this amazing hotel. Love the African theming and we had some great balcony views of the animals at times (but obviously they do roam). We were very comfortable, looked after well by the excellent staff, and even the maid was sweet and very caring. Hope to be able to return again at some point in the future!

We’ve previously stayed at other Disney hotels but loved this one . Now that our daughter is 13 years old it was nice not having a fully Disney themed hotel . We booked a standard room which don’t normally have the nice views of the savannah but we were lucky to have been given a room with a view with a water hole . Was great to see the animal especially giraffes. The rooms were very spacious with balcony , 2 large double beds , table /chairs, wardrobe with safe , hairdryer , iron and ironing board . Bathroom had bath with shower over and toilet , not the biggest room and then just out side was a large mirror with his and her sinks It’s a beautiful hotel , I loved the out door fire pit with rocking chairs with the different areas to view the animals . The hotels got a bar area , 2 table service restaurant , 1 quick service restaurant (Mara - where you refill your mugs ) and a snack bar near the pool bar . Pool area was very large with lots of sun beds , the pool as access by a wall in slop , steps or a disabled lift . Pool towels provided at pool area . Loved having the magic bands to do everything like open my room door , food payment , attraction tickets etc . I saw lots of children’s activities going on within the hotel . I used the laundry at the hotel , it was $7 from reception for a laundry card ( enough for wash , dry and powder ) . We went to universal studios and reception booked us a Mears shuttle at around $11 each return fare . The only negative this the hotel was that it’s the furthered hotel from the parks so it takes a little longer in the buses to get places , but it’s s beautiful hotel .

It was awesome to wake up every morning and see the animals from your room. Giraffes would walk up to your room. The rooms are on the smaller side and basic, but they are clean. We had a good time! Would go back in the future.

Even though we were at Disney 5 months ago, I think the total escapism is needed every once in a while and Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House proves to have the best theme that delivers. The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a must once-in-a-lifetime experience. I felt like I was in a Savannah resort. The theme was so authentic and wildlife in abundance. During the mornings, day and evening, whilst we were in and out, the abundance of wildlife were right there. We had a good variety too as our terrace was situated next to a watering hole. Our room was on the 2nd floor and offered view clear across the entire property to Kadani Village. Our room had 2 queen beds and separate vanity area from the bath/shower. The terrace was small but serve the purpose to watch the main attractions of giraffes, zebras, wildebeests and more. The food court Mara was excellent and we were always able to get breakfast without the crowds except for one morning out of nine days. It was rather cool for this time of year in Orlando. The temps gradually dropped during the course of the holiday, so swimming in their huge pool was not an option. The lobby is very impressive and filled with African art and handicrafts. Even the shop continues the theme. It is definitely an 'oohs-and-aahs' resort. There are two restaurants (besides Mara's), Boma and Jiko. Both are excellent and offer an adventurous menu with familiar ingredients thrown in for good measure. The Animal Kingdom Lodge was so worth the price. We will be back in the future.

We stayed here for 7 nights with our 2 children 5 and 3 - we loved it, the pool was great, the transport was fab. JIKO was super yummy and totally worth the 2xTS credits if you're on the dining plan - tip was about $30. The Mara? quick service restaurant was nice too. We used the clubhouse which was great - we put out children in for 3 hours while we went to JIKO - if you show your receipt you get the first hour free so it cost us $50 for 2 hours for 2 children, they were fed there too. We were lucky to have a savannah view which was awesome, waking up to Giraffes was so cool. Our room had a fridge too. Would stay again.
