"Beautiful grounds"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

I took my family to AKL over the 2016 April school break. The hotels lobby was breathtaking. The hotel staff was excellent, we called the front desk for an extra towel and in two minutes a staff member brought a stack of towels and enough extra toiletries for an army. The animals outside you room really give you a exotic feel. We saw giraffes, and all sorts of African animals every day. I think the room is a touch small for a deluxe hotel but we spent very little time in the room because the grounds are gorgeous. The pool is really nice but very hard to find a spot to sit, people tend to hoard lounges which is kind of silly.

We've stayed a couple times here. The resort is huge, you'll find walks to your room are a bit long! If you want to be close to an elevator I would suggest requesting that when you reserve. The property is gorgeous, we had an amazing g Savannah view. The pool is fun, we visited both pools, and they're each different but awesome. Take advantage of the great food here! Boma is not to be missed, have lunch at Sanaa and sit near a window to enjoy the views!

I can't even put into words how much I love it here. The atmosphere, decor, restaurants...just everything is fabulous. We love Sanaa and Boma, but we still have to try Jiko. The rooms are cozy and sitting out on the balcony and watching the animals is an experience like no other. We have stayed twice and now I am hooked. I can't imagine staying anywhere else again!

"5 Nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo House"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed July 25, 2016 NEW

I stayed here with my 4 year old daughter and sister for 6 days and 7 nights. We had a room on the 4th floor above the main lobby. It was a quick walk to the bus stops, pool, playground, arcade and Mara quick service restaurant. Service was great and check in was a breeze as we did everything online. Once we got off the Disney Magical Express from the airport, we were able to go straight to our room. The bus ride to Magic Kingdom was anywhere from 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Epcot was about 5-10 minutes shorter on the bus, same with Hollywood Studios. Animal Kingdom Park was about 5-8 minutes on the bus. We did not travel to Disney Springs or any other areas that were not one of the 4 theme parks from the resort. When coming back from the 4 parks to Jambo House, it is the second stop on the bus after stopping at Kidani Village. Maid service in the room was great and we had no complaints. I am not a picky person at all, thus had no problems about the room. Those who are high maintenance might feel otherwise...it is really all about personal perspective. The only complain I had about the room was that around 4-5 PM in the lobby, Disney Cast Members played some drums, interacting with guests. Each day, after spending 4-5 hours at the park, I brought my daughter back to the room to take a nap. She was able to sleep with no problems through the noise, but others might not like it. We ate at the Mara quick service restaurant twice and found the options fine. We had the Disney Dining Plan so it was great for us. My daughter and her cousins loved seeing the animals at the resort. Other than sleeping, napping, eating at The Mara and going to the pool once, we didn't do much else at the resort. Daughter loved the pool, especially the slide. There is a zero entry section of the pool. My daughter can swim pretty well so the slide wasn't an issue even though it was in deeper water for her. If your child isn't very tall (mine is around 43 inches) or can't swim, you will need to monitor the slide area. I think it is about 3.5 feet deep in this area. They do offer children's activities throughout the day, but we did not participate. They did have a movie for children to watch (i think near the pool area) at around 8:30 each night. There are other table service restaurants to eat from at Jambo house but we didn't choose to do so. Leaving the resort was easy as we were able to check in with our airline (Southwest) and luggage at the resort. We had an evening flight, so we were also able to leave any carry on luggage with Bell Hop while we went to the Magic Kingdom during the morning and lunch time. You do have to check your luggage 3 or 4 hours before the flight and the desk closes by noon. Overall it was a great experience, especially for children.

"First try at animal kingdom "
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5
Reviewed July 25, 2016 NEW

Well to start..we are long time disney vacation club members. First try at animal kingdom lodge. Stayed in 2 bedroom with lock off. The rooms here are smaller than other resorts. Lighting is dark in rooms. But its the atmosphere of Africa i guess. We were actually surprised at the overall resort cleanliness. We found it to be subpar for a disney property. Dont get me wrong. Its way better than most everywhere else but my wife and i commented about it as soon as we arrived. Its long walk to pools and restaurants and the bus rides seem long.. the animals from the deck are gorgeous. If you have animal lovers with you ist spectacular. For us the extra points needed to stay are not worth it. But we are happy we gave it a shot. Next year it will be back to old key west or Saratoga Springs. ...
