Love the place but didn't like that we where in a corner room and kids or teens where knocking at the door after midnight. So if you stay don't get a corner room

"Bring in the Wrecking Ball"

Room 223 of building 10, Touchdown. These value resorts are definitely showing their age. Disney World would be better off taking a wrecking ball to the All Star Sports and rebuilding a value resort that fits the upcoming 2020s. Carpets in my room was aged and faded. Bath area was for the disabled but also needed updating. The clock didn't have a backlight. I tried to leave housekeeping a note about the clock but that did not work. An email complaint to the manager got quick results. My clock was exchanged for another one. Then one day housekeeping gave me what I call express housekeeping. They didn't vacuum the carpet, and didn't exchange all the towels that I needed exchanged. Another complaint to the manager resulted in a credit to my room for the day (not the whole amount of one night's stay). The next day my room was extremely cleaned and they even left me 3 towel animals! I will never stay at All Star Resorts again and will likely avoid any All Star resort if they are all like this one. The food court is decent with typical fast food items. As a family resort it is very noisy and the pool is jammed when it is hot. I was doing a party of 1 trip to save money as I spent most of my time outside at theme parks, Disney Springs, or elsewhere. The bus stop for Disney buses needs revamping for pickups and drop offs. With all the other improvements at Disney going on right now, more attention should have been giving to renovating the Value resorts.

Staying "on-property" at Disney World is always preferable versus not. As with all Disney resorts, there are plenty of amenities that are not offered at other non-Disney resorts and hotels. Disney offers(included with all reservations) transportation to/from the Orlando airport via "Mickey's Magical Express". At most times, this service is Magical. Disney will get your bags from baggage claim and deliver them to your room for you. They will pick you from the airport and take you direct to the resort. At the end of the trip they will take you back to the airport from the hotel. With a family of 5 with 6-9 bags, this is invaluable. Our three little ones help, but they can't maneuver a week's worth of luggage. So, having Disney take car of this both saves time and money (versus a rental car, parking and/or a rideshare option). Besides the airport transportation, Disney resorts all offer transportation to/from all of their parks, including the water parks and the Disney Springs shopping and entertainment district. The buses arrive a minimum of every 20 minutes and many times quicker. This is a positive in comparison to non-Disney resorts that may only offer a handful of shuttles throughout the day. Disney buses run an hour or two before the parks open and go an hour or two after the parks close. Very convenient. Specific to this stay and resort, this location delivered. The rooms, although small, were clean and properly stocked with the normal supplies. We were not in the room much, but it can easily accommodate 4 adults or our 2 adults, 2 kids and a baby. Yes, it's tight, but we are not in the room much as we are gone usually all day. The value for this resort is great. We did visit the on-site amenities. The food court, arcade, and pool were all great. We ate twice at the food court and enjoyed all of the options. The arcade is fun, but we do miss the tickets and prizes that use to be present (thanks Florida, arrrgh). There are multiple pools, but we only visited the "main" Surfboard Bay pool. This pool is huge. We enjoyed the warm water and relaxed in peace for over an hour one afternoon. There's a pool side bar for drinks and small eats. There's plenty of lifeguards present and there's plenty of seating poolside. (Other guests, please remove your towels when you're done, so we can tell what chairs are available for use. Thanks.) Anyhow, we highly recommend this resort as a good value for what you get. The only reason this isn't a 5 is because there are even better values at Disney World, like Pop Century and Art of Animation, which I would recommend even more.

"Get the Preferred Room "

This year I began working as a travel agent and I Stayed at All Star Sports on a business trip of off site Disney Properties. This resort is perfect as a value resort! It’s currently undergoing refurbishments, but that did not take away from my stay. I was in a preferred room which was a short walk to dining, the pool, the gift shop, and most importantly.... the bus. All Star Sports is the first pick up for the bus and the first drop off. This allows you to get a seat to the parks, and if you have to stand on the way home it’s not for long.

I won’t lie the pictures are definitely more awesome then really is. Room wise. However, we went the week of thanksgiving and the staff was amazing! I had a lot of questions and they answered them and gave extra pointers! They also clean the rooms every day if you don’t put out your sign. I loved that the resort had activities each day for the kids at certain times. We however did not get to participate in any because we literally were at parks every day. But I thought it was super cool and would love to go back justvto experience that.
