"Stay at the Maingate"
July, 2016
We were a family of 5, choose this hotel because they offered two "queen size beds" and breakfast. Well to our surprise the "QUEEN" was more like a full. It was a clean place and the breakfast was great, wake up time was a bit early, like to sleep in a little when on vacation, but it was worth it. The employees were excellent, very welcoming.

"Just returned from a 5 night stay...."

I would rate this a 3 - If you want a decent room for the price then this would be a good choice. Free breakfast was pretty standard. We had the Suite with 2 queen beds and a set of bunkbeds which we wound up not needing. Word to the wise - due to the configuration of this room - the bathroom was TINY. We were on the 1st floor - No ice machine. We had to travel to the 3rd floor to get ice - this was a draw back. (2nd floor was broken). The pool was small for the size of the hotel so we skipped it. I didn't like how anyone could access the pool from the parking lot. Outside was not as well lit - esp the parking lot.

Our first impression of this hotel wasn't bad. There was no line to check in soon after check-in time started, there was what appeared to be a kiosk in the lobby where one could purchase themepark tickets, there was a small gift shop that had a little bit of everything, and one clerk at the front desk was helpful and efficient. But I should have known as we drove there that it was far from being near the main gate, at this hotel wasn't quite what we had expected or been made to believe. There was a restaurant on site, but we were unable to use it because we spent times it was open in the theme parks. They did have a complimentary continental breakfast which was quite good. There were three elevators which was promising, but one of them never appeared to be working, one day two weren't working, and the one that always worked was very slow. There was a pool and a hot tub which my teenage daughters wanted to enjoy one evening, but they were grossed out by a family who spent an entire 45 minutes in the hot tub, the mom in her street clothes, the dad in his underwear, with a toddler who was not wearing swim pants. My older daughter complained to the management about that, in writing and in person. The theme park kiosk turned out to be a disappointment because it wasn't where you could buy tickets but where you could sign up to earn tickets from one of the presentations of a local condominium or timeshare program. This had not been explained at all previously, but had been advertised as just a site to buy tickets. They had also advertised transportation to the theme parks, and at check-in gave us a schedule. It was ridiculous. The prescheduled transportation only ran once or twice per day, daily to only one or two theme parks, and the times were very limiting-very early in the morning and returning very early in the evening or very late at night. Our other disappointments: with a massive amount of flying little bugs that were in our room anytime anything that might be at all edible was left out. My son brought back about dry cereal for breakfast one morning, and within a few hours it was covered with those bugs. The shower could use a curved shower rod as it was very small. The flow from the small and clogged shower head was terrible. The size of the bathroom was quite small, so that one had to go in, stand between the shower and the toilet to close the door. The sink had ample room for storage, and appeared to have been recently replaced, but the rack on the wall for extra towels was broken and falling down so could not be used. The biggest mystery was that every night around 11:00 PM the floor in the bathroom flooded with what appeared to be clear, clean water. And we could never ascertain where it came from, and it never happen when any water was running, but happened every night except the first. I realize that keeping a big hotel cool in the worst heat of summer is a challenge, and this certainly proved to be the case. The air conditioning unit in our room was the standard hotel type under the window. No matter how we set it, the room never fully cooled. The location of the hotel was good, as there were multiple restaurants and shops in the local vicinity. But the traffic was a challenge every day, particularly leaving the hotel to go to the theme parks. You had to turn out of the hotel and take a right, then almost immediately get into the left lane to make a U-turn. There was usually so much traffic it was almost impossible and took a lot of time. While there were things about our stay at comfort inn maingate Kissimmee that were good, particularly the comfortable beds, how housekeeping left our room every day, the amenities available, and the large parking lot, there were enough negatives that I cannot give a rousing recommendation. It was one of the less expensive of the moderate hotels in the area, but it was still a disappointment. One other thing I will point out, the photographs have been taken at such weird angles and from such distances, they don't accurately display what you will see when you get there. Don't blink driving there or you will miss it.

I admit I am easy to please. Give me a clean room, a nice bed, and AC and I'm happy. That said this hotel went above and beyond that. first off check in was so quick we were in a room in under 15 minutes. the room we got was really nice. It even had a separate area for my teen son to sleep. The room was clean, well stocked and comfortable. Our only issue was a non-working toilet which was fixed in no time. Breakfast was delicious I even got Mickey waffles. Oh and let me say Tezhaba at the desk was a superstar. She was so good at keeping everything running smoothly. Overall best stay ever outside of Disney. Good service, Good food, and excellent room. Best night rest ever and it's close to my home Disney.
