Description

from Wild Willys Airboat Tours
We offer amazing full one hour tours starting a 9:00am, 7 days a week!

You’ll love our narrated tours on 23,000 acres of beautiful Lake Toho aboard our coast guard approved airboats with our fully insured licensed captains. Our sleeker, faster 6 passenger boats can offer a more personal tour and our newly added 14 passenger boat can accommodate larger groups!

The great thing about our central location is that we can change our route throughout the year. Our rides actually depend a lot on the water temperature. On our “winter tours” (Nov – April), the water is cooler and the gators stay on top to absorb the heat. During the month of May, they’re here and there because it’s mating season. On our “summer tours” (June – Oct), the water temperature is hot and gators tend to stay under the water to get away from the heat. These months we go a different path into shady areas to see gators.

We have 4 beautiful baby gators (Cricket, Sergio, Blue and Splash) in our aquarium to hold and take pictures with you at no additional charge. Be sure and bring your camera! And don’t worry, our captains show you exactly how to hold them. Say cheese!

Reservations are best. We have a lot of walk-ins and we don’t want you to wait any longer than you have to. There is a covered pavilion with picnic tables, a non-smoking back deck where you can eat, drink and snack all while surrounding yourself with nature.

Wild Willy's also serves food! After your tour, grab a bite at Headwater's Take-Out. Be adventurous and try our World Famous Gator Bites! Buttermilk and hot sauce marinated pieces of alligator meat, tenderized and fried golden brown. For the rest of you, choose from cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, French fries and more, dressed the way you like it! (Open 10am to 4pm, 7 days a week, subject to change). We have a store on-site where we accept credit cards, sell t-shirts, hats, gator souvenirs, soda, cold beer, ice and a few snacks.

Come on out and try something different! Most people have never been on an airboat ride, much less held a real live alligator. Some have said, “It feels like flying without ever leaving the ground!” Others have commented, “It’s like a magic carpet ride!”

"Airboat fun!"
June, 2016
Our first day in the Orlando area from Oregon, we did an airboat tour. It was hot and humid but the airboat tour was a great relief and very enjoyable. We didn't see many animals, a few alligators. We did see a lot of amazing birds and plants. It was a very fun trip and at the end we got to hold a baby alligator.

"Fun and informative"
March, 2016
We had a total of 19 people in our group with ages ranging from17 months to 53 years. We had two airboats and captains Ed and Tyler had us meet in a couple places along the tour. The highlight for all was being able to hold the baby gators after the tour. Everybody got a chance and Ed and Tyler were very patient! Great tour!

"Great experience"
March, 2015
We were excited to go on this trip. My husband & I had taken this trip before with Wild Willy's & my sister & friend Tina wanted to go on an airboat ride & to see alligators. We purchased the tickets & followed our GPS which ended up sending us around in a circle 3 times on the Florida turnpike. Just as this happened Wild Willy's called us to ask us if we needed help getting there & gave us the correct info to get there & moved us to an hour later tour so we could still go. They called us back 10 min later to see if we were OK & to offer more assistance if needed. They were very helpful & wonderful to work with. We saw about a 3-4 yr old gator & a few beds of baby alligators. Saw a bald eagle nest with 2 mature eagles & 2 younger ones also. A lot of birds, nesting hens & cows were also seen. It was a lot of fun. Guide was very informative also.

Tip: If on an early am tour like the 7:30 or 9:00 am dress warm in a sweatshirt with a hood. It is a little chilly & windy. Alligators come out better when its warmer

Had a great time on this tour. Been on ab airboat before but our first 360 degree turn. Great fun! We also saw otters playing, alligators and turtles. We got to hold a small alligator too. Our captain was very knowledgeable and made sure we had a full hour tour. Already recommended to others visiting Florida from the UK.

We went with our visiting parents on the 1 hour tour and had a great time. Capt. Mark was very friendly and had lots of information about the area and animals. He even turned the boat around so that our teen daughter could retrieve her "fallen overboard" jacket! Had a really great time. I would totally recommend Wild Willy's and Capt. Mark.

"Great ride, but also some confusion"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed May 20, 2018 NEW
We arrived approx 1 hour before our scheduled time in the morning. We got a call from Wild Willy 50 min before our time where a friendly women asked if everything was ok with the directions. I told here we already had arrived and she said ok. We sat watching the boat captains getting the boats ready and said good morning and all that. Then we waited... Some minutes past our scheduled time the woman call us again asking where we are. ”Sitting outside waiting” we replied. Then we got told that we haven’t ”checked in” and thus they were sitting waiting for us inside the house just besides us. I find this not so service friendly since: 1. There is no information that you need to check in on the confirmation email. 2. The woman calling me know we were there since we told here in the phone. I consider that phone conversation a check-in. 3. The captain knew we were sitting waiting just by the boats. This confusion and lack of initiative made us and another couple riding the same tour to be a little late. The people at Wild Willys could also very easily just have asked us when passing by us several times when waiting if we were going on a boat and then just check us in. Besides that it was a wonderful ride with a friendly captain in nice environment. So an advice to customers is to remember to check in when you arrive even though it is not stated anywhere (as far as I have found). Advices to Wild Willys: - State the check-in requirement in the confirmation e-mail. - Put a sign on the parking lot that check-in is required - Point out to the people sitting and waiting that if everyone going on a boat trip need to check in.

"Beautiful! Worth making a trip."

The boat tour itself isn’t very long (not quite a full hour), but it’s a lovely break from the roads and towns nearby. Staff at reception are friendly and helpful and so is the captain. The boat is super noisy so you get ear protection for the trip, but the captain stops to tell you interesting stories and to point out wildlife. We were very lucky and saw loads of turtles, gators and birds. The animals can be quite shy, so I recommend taking your glasses/contact lenses if you need them so that you can spot the animals a little distance away (the turtles jumped right into the water whenever the boat approached). Be warned, there’s lots of mosquitoes.

Even with a little rain and threatening storm clouds, Capt Blake was able to find 4 gators! He has a great sense of humor and made our ride great fun! Very knowledgeable! He was calm, but cautious about the weather, watching the storm on radar the whole time. Safety first!
