"Awesome views from the towers and lines"
July, 2015
We were in Orlando for a family vacation, me and my 2 adult daughters, neither of them have ever zip lined before. I've had a few opportunities to "zip like" back in the 80s with Army training (remember the slide for life?) but it wasn't anything like the commercial places today. Gatorland is actually a gator reserve, has multiple ponds segregating the sizes of the gators. I found it to be very educational and promote awareness for habitat and wildlife preservation. The park is organized around the pools with aviaries and snack bars imbedded within. There are plenty of shaded walkways so you're not constantly in the sun. The zip line depot is inside the park, where they take you through a safety briefing and film. An experiences guide (college age men and women) help you assemble the gear then off we went to the towers with a few others. These towers were above the treeline and we could see nesting osprey and crows in the tops of the trees. Looking down was impressive! The zip lines were fun, some short some long and we traversed several towers before ending the adventure. The entire trip took about 3 hours- starting from buyin the tickets to editing the park. The zip line tickets give you entrance to the park and you can stay there all day if you want, but you must to show up at the depot on time otherwise you may have to forfeit your ride. Great experience and I highly recommend to novice an experiences zip liners. Safe for kids!!
Tip: Don't bring anything loose that can fall off your head or out of pockets

We have been going to Gatorland for many years now and still find it very enjoyable. Visit good for half a day's entertainment, great shows, animal interaction, very knowledgeable staff and obviously plenty of gators. Food like most parks in Orlando isn't great but passable if hunger really takes a grip. Depending on the length of your stay I would suggest you go for a annual pass it's only about $10 extra than a day ticket then if you ever want to pop in for a hour or so no more admission fees, one more suggestion pay $5 and buy some gator food ( turkey hotdogs) and feed the gators, very entertaining.

We purchased our tickets for Gatorland from a Park Ticket vendor at the Golden Corral on 192. We only save about $5 off gate price so not huge savings. When approaching the park and when we first went in, it looked like it was really small and I thought we would only be there for about an hour. However the park is much bigger than I thought, as there are many walkways leading to different areas of the park. There is a lovely long walkway through Gators in their natural habitat. A splash park for the kids, which really helps if it's a particularly hot day as they can cool down inbetween the shows. There were three shows in total, Gator Jumparoo Show, Gator Wrestling and Upclose Encounters. All three shows are really so funny, the "keepers" are extremely knowledgable and have great banter between each other, including those jokes that only the adults really get but the kids find a little amusing too. The shows are repeated twice per day, so there is plenty of opportunity to see them as well as taking in all the other exhibits at the park. We spent a good 3.5 to 4 hours there and it really was one of the highlights of the holiday. It was especially nice not to have to queue for everything and be in a park which hasn't got a mass of people like the theme parks. There are opportunities to feed the gators, a walkthrough aviary, ziplines (extra charge and we didn't do this). It's roughly $16 a child and $24 for a adult, and in my opinion well worth the money. We didn't eat any food there so I am unable to comment on this.

We were there 2 years ago and they have made many new improvements. A splash park for the kids and some new animal enclosures. The shows are really fun and interesting the bird room was one of my favorites. If you get a chance it's $10 to feed the alligators and it's is a really cool experience you are 3 ft away from at least 20 alligators. My daughter loved it. This is a really neat place a must if you in Orlando.

"Gators everywhere!"

Living in Florida for almost 2 yrs now we've seen our share of alligators but since we were visiting friends in Orlando the night before, decided to make a detour to check the place out and til January 31st, Florida residents get 50% off their ticket entry . Was really cool. Enjoyed it very much. The people working there are very informative and fun at the same time. We decided to pass on doing the zipline crossing over the gators but if you're wanting to do it, it'll cost you $55 a person. They have many different shows and they interact with the crowd at all of them. We did what they called gator wrestling where you get to sit on one of them and take a picture (smaller size and the mouth is taped of course), that is free, they take pictures but you can also take your own from a little bit further. Had a fun day with our 13 and 16 yr old.

"The Real Florida"

Nothing against Disney, but places like Gatorland are the real Florida experience. Yeah, the show commentaries are campy and it might not have all of Disney's bells & whistles, but I enjoyed it more than the overblown theme parks. Gatorland does have much more than I expected: a small water park area for kids, playground, abundant animal life including pink flamingos, parrots, deer, and many more. In honor of Dave Barry I made a plastic alligator out of the molding machine. I wish our granddaughter had been with us to see the real Florida. I think every family should check this place out.
