Busch Gardens Hosts Glory at the Gardens

Busch Gardens presents Glory at the Gardens on select Saturdays during the month of May. This festival will host some of the biggest names in contemporary Christian music. Glory at the Gardens will take place on May 1, 8 and 15.

Beginning at 4pm on the aforementioned dates, Christian music acts will perform at Busch Gardens’ Gwazi Park. On May 1, Busch Gardens will host Matthew West, Brandon Heath and Jonny Diaz. Skillet and Building 429 are scheduled for May 8. On May 15, Kirk Franklin and American Idol finalist Mandisa will wrap up the Glory in the Gardens concert series.

The Glory at the Gardens performances are included with regular Busch Gardens tickets.

Star Trek Live Stage Show Comes to Kennedy Space Center

The Kennedy Space Center in Orlando Florida is welcoming an all-new interactive stage show on June 11. “Star Trek Live” will be presented at the 300-seat Astronaut Encounter Theater five times day.

The new “Star Trek Live” stage show is based on the sci-fi franchise and will take audiences on a 30 minute journey where they will explore space age technology that includes special effect and audience participation. The audience will portray new cadets at Starfleet Academy. Along the way, the educational show will be explore what it takes to live, travel and work in space.

13th Annual Mustangs & Mustangs Event at Fantasy of Flight

The 13th Annual Mustangs & Mustangs event will be held at Fantasy of Flight on April 17, 2010. The spring event features cars and vintage airplanes and is the only Mustang event to showcase both restored P-51 Mustang aircraft and Ford Mustang autos of all makes and models.

There is a People’s Choice Award for the show cars and the P-51 fighters perform live aerial demonstrations during Mustangs & Mustangs.

Interactive sessions with American Fighter Aces of WWII will be featured during the 2010 Mustangs & Mustangs event. The legendary P-51 Triple Ace Col. Clarence E. “Bud” Anderson will be on hand to share real life WWII aerial experiences during the living history symposium “Victory in the Sky.”

Children’s activities & entertainment is planned as well.

Fantasy of Flight general admission is required to attend this event. Parking is $5.

Fantasy of Flight to Host Sun 'n Fun Splash-In

Fantasy of Flight in Orlando, Florida is hosting the Splash-In on Thursday, April 15. This event will be in conjunction with the 36th Annual Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In. Visitors to Fantasy of Flight will be able to see a variety of seaplanes and amphibious aircraft perform water landings and takeoffs. The afternoon portion of the event will be dedicated to competitive flying.

Fantasy of Flight, owned by Kermit Weeks, will also have a PBY Catalina and Short Sunderland on display during the event.

The Splash-In event is included in the daily admission to Fantasy of Flight on April 15. Sun ‘n Fun guests who do not wish to tour Fantasy of Flight will be charged $5 for parking and admission to the Splash-In. The Splash-In is open to the public. Visitors who do not wish to visit Fantasy of Flight, and are not Sun 'n Fun guests, may pay $10 for parking and admission to the Splash-In.

A special Slash-In luncheon is also planned at noon on April 15. Attendees will be able to meet Jeff Skiles, Captain “Sully” Sullenberger’s co-pilot on the U.S. Airways Flight 1549 now famously known as the “Miracle on the Hudson.” The barbeque luncheon will be held at the Orlampa Conference Center and is $20 per person. Advance reservations are required.

Omaka Rocka Now Open at SeaWorld's Aquatica

The new water slide at Aquatica, Sea World’s water park in Orlando, is now open. Omaka Rocka is the first expansion at Aquatica. The ride shares a loading platform with Whanua Way near the wave pools, and features funnels and half pipe action in rafts built for two.

The height requirement for Omaka Rocka is 48 inches.

The new Aquatica Water Park ride will send a pair of guests in a two-seater tube through a set of three tunnels that will replicate the half-pipe experience. Riders will slide up one part of the slide and get a sensation of near weightlessness. They’ll come down that side and back up another, in what SeaWorld officials are calling a vertical thrills experience.

Great American Pie Festival Bakes Up Some Fun in Orlando

Orlando, Florida will host the Great American Pie Festival April 24 & 25, 2010. For the ninth consecutive year thousands of pie lovers, tasters and bakers will gather for the Great American Pie Festival, sponsored by Crisco.

There will be a never ending pie buffet, complete with award-winning pies, ice cream, toppings and beverages. There will also be a Crisco Kids Creation Station where children will be able to make their own pies, participate in pie decorating, pie scaping, pie tin art and many other pie activities. A Pietopia Demonstration Stage will feature entertainment and baking demonstrations by chefs from across the country. A Pie Eating Contest is also planned.

A few of the Great American Pie Festival participants include Bakers Square Restaurants and Pies, Bonert’s Slice of Pie, California Raisin Marketing Board, Publix Supermarkets, Rocky Mountain Pies and Smucker’s.

The hours for the Great American Pie Festival are 11am-7pm on Saturday, April 24 & 12pm-5pm on Sunday, April 25.

Universal Orlando Opens Harry Potter Park June 18

Universal Orlando Resort just announced today that the opening day for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction will be June 18, 2010. The attraction will be home to The Three Broomsticks Inn, Honeydukes Sweets and all of the other famously unique shops Hogsmeade Village is known for.

This Orlando attraction has been highly anticipated as Harry Potter fans are eager to see what’s in store. The attraction won’t disappoint fans as they will be able to peer into the Gryffindor House, soar on Harry’s broomstick or have a beer a Hog’s Head Pub. The entire attraction was created in close collaboration with J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books. There has been a lot of detail put into the stunning buildings, from the architecture to the knick knacks displayed.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be located at the Islands of Adventure section of Universal Orlando Resort. It will be included in regular park admission.

One of the main features of Hogsmeade Village is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It will be home to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a ride combining 360-degree filming techniques and sophisticated robotics to create the illusion of a magic adventure in flight with Harry Potter and his pals. In addition to this ride, there will be two outdoor roller coasters on the 20-acre Harry Potter attraction.

Jack Hanna to Visit SeaWorld & Busch Gardens

Sea World and Busch Gardens will welcome Jack Hanna, celebrity animal expert, April 16-18, 2010. Jack Hanna is recognized the world over for his deep knowledge of and boundless enthusiasm for wild animals and wildlife conservation. He will be introducing visitors to exotic and endangered animals during special shows and exclusive up-close encounters.

There will also be a special Breakfast with Jack Hanna available. Space is limited so make reservations in advance. The price is $18 for adults and $16 for children.

Gourment Food Served Up at Taste of Pointe Orlando

Any foodies in the Orlando area will want to bring their gourmet appetites to the Pointe Orlando on April 11, 2010. An array of central Florida’s top-ranked restaurants will be on-hand to share some of their delicious dishes and tasty concoctions.

From 4pm-7pm on Sunday, April 11, attendees will be able to taste unlimited samples from participating restaurants, receive a three drink ticket and enjoy great entertainment. Ticket prices are $55 (or $50 in advance). A portion of the proceeds will benefit Florida Hospital.

Participating restaurants include The Oceanaire Seafood Room, The Capital Grille, Tommy Bahama’s Restaurant & Bar, Funky Monkey Wine Company, Pizzeria Valdiano, Copper Canyon Grill, Hooters, Adobe Gila’s, Taverna Opa, B.B.
